British sextet released in 1971 their sole album (a live recording) only in Germany and Netherlands. A heavy psych blues rock with jazz and progressive touch, from excellent musicians like Mike Connell on guitar, Allan Spriggs on vocals and Geoff Leigh (form Henry Cow fame) on saxes and flute.
The band Mabel Greer's Toyshop changed its name to "Yes" in 1968. The original founders re-established Mabel in 2013, releasing the album "New Way Of Life" featuring Billy Sherwood & Tony Kaye.
Former Yes guitarist Peter Banks posthumously rejoins Mabel Greer for the last song on the album “The Secret” which was written to celebrate 50 years of Peter and Chris Squire joining the group in September 1967. The song includes guitar parts played by Peter Banks and is included in the album…
The sole album from this British progressive quartet was released only in Germany (in 1971) on Bellaphon label - home of the other little known UK bands, like Diabolus, Crazy Mabel and Little Big Horn. The sound of Sunday was a superb combination of a quite intensive and powerful Hammond organ-driven parts linked (in the background) with some piano notes, spontaneous electric guitar leads and powerful rhythm section - with more than a trace of blues and psychedelia. It can be compared to the Jody Grind (their member, Pete Gavin, was a drummer here…), Atomic Rooster, early Argent, Procol Harum (at their heaviest) and late 60' s Pink Floyd. This CD edition was carefully remastered from the original, analogue source and sounds really great!
On their way home from the Isle of Wight Pop Festival, Jeff, Trev and Mick along with girlfriends Marty and Cathy decide to pitch a tent on private land. In the morning the land's owner Rafe turns up and orders them to get off his lawn but changes his mind when one of the girls emerges naked from the tent. Rafe explains he only comes down to the house at weekends and lets them stay providing they redecorate his house. The squatters agree but once Rafe leaves they plot to organize a pop festival at the house. Attempting to raise cash for the venture, the men coerce their girlfriends into making a blue movie. When this proves disastrous Jeff goes to London and poses as a pop journalist in order to book the groups "Crazy Mabel" and "The Juicy Lucy" for the festival.

The eponymous, German-only album from this long forgotten British hard progressive quintet was released in 1971 by Bellaphon - the record label responsible for the collectable (and now very expensive) vinyl editions of other, stylistically similar but also little known UK bands like Diabolus, Steel Mill, Crazy Mabel and Sunday. This difficult to describe album contained an eclectic mix of styles, going between straight rock, tasteful rock ballads and hard progressive rock. That varied, well-arranged and in most parts simply stunning record will certainly appeal to the fans of Procol Harum, Skin Alley and Jody Grind. As a bonus we have added a very rare non-LP UK single (from 1970) - with a terrific and insanely hypnotic Just A Game being one of the very best heavy rock tracks from early 70’s!
