Sony Classical artist and Winner of the 2012 Juno Award, Alexandre Da Costa was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He showed an uncommon interest for both the violin and piano at a very early age. By the age of nine, he had the astonishing ability to perform his first concerts with stunning virtuosity on both instruments, which brought him recognition as a musical prodigy. His chosen professional career as a violinist began very early and, after encouragement from Charles Dutoit, he was soon performing regularly as soloist with orchestra as well as in recital.

In a career spanning five decades, Sequeria Costa has developed his own musical interpretation from an understanding of the German and French schools, acquired through studies with his teacher, Vianna da Motta (one of the last pupils of Liszt and Hans von Bülow), Mark Hambourg, Edwin Fischer, Marguerite Long and Jacques Fevrier. he has performed at the greatest halls around the world, including the Salle Gaveau and Salle Pleyel in Paris, the Great Hall of the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, Tokyo’s Suntori Hall, St Petersburg’s Philharmonic Hall, the Vienna Musikverein, New York’s Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy center in washington, D.C. and the major London halls. He recently completed performances of the entire cycle of Beethoven Sonatas at the Gulbenkian Hall in Lisbon, Portugal.

Quand Christophe Colomb a découvert le Costa Rica, il a tout de suite été ébloui par les richesses de ce pays d'Amérique Centrale. De nombreux parc nationaux parsèment cette terre qui abrite une grande variété d'espèces animales et une forêt pluviale préservée. Sa capitale, San José, conserve les vestiges historiques d'une civilisation brillante, à l'image de son or sculpté que convoitaient les conquistadors. Plusieurs volcans dominent aussi le paysage et de superbes plages bordent ses côtes. La pêche est un secteur en difficulté mais le tourisme bat son plein et les promoteurs immobiliers n'ont pour l'instant pas défiguré le littoral. Le Costa Rica présente ainsi de nombreux attraits qui séduisent de plus en plus de visiteurs.
