For 2009, Breakestra return with their long-awaited sophomore set exploring all colours of the funk spectrum. Built around the vision of Music Man Miles and Mixmaster Wolf (as well as producing, Miles plays drums, bass, guitars, keys and percussion on the record), the trademark Breakestra touches remain intact: Wolf fronts tough breakbeat jams Dark Clouds Rain Soul and Stones Throw single Low Down Stank ; Miles himself brings his soulful vocals to Need A Little Love and I Don t Wanna Wait and amazing new female vocalist Afrodyete recalls the heyday of JB s Funky People on the terrific Come On Over . The album even journeys into psychedelic soul (on the fuzzy Show Me The Way ) and stripped-back New Orleans organ stylings on instrumental cut, North-East To Nippon.
Converge is regarded as one of the most original and innovative bands to emerge from the punk underground. They have been making singularly aggressive, loud and outrageous music since the ‘90s. Converge are to modern metal what the Ramones were to punk, with albums like Jane Doe and You Fail Me considered touchstones of the genre and their new album, The Dusk In Us is destined to become another.
The legendary NJO has few issued recordings to its name, much to the shame of the British recording industry. I applaud Dusk Fire for their efforts to gain a commercial release for this historic document. Other reviewers have expressed concern about the audio quality. The accompanying notes explain the clean-up job which had to be done to the original 2-track tape but, while it is not perfect, the sound is not noticeably distorted, most of the instruments can be heard just fine and overall the effect is no worse than many other officially released live recordings.
Debut album from Canadian crooner Matt Dusk. This Canadian version includes an exclusive bonus remix of the single 'Two Shots' (penned by Bono), as heard on the 'Casino' reality show from Fox.
