Dario Argento

Demons is a 1985 Italian horror film directed by Lamberto Bava and produced by Dario Argento.
The film begins when two young women receive tickets to a free film screening at The Metropol, a newly opened movie theatre in Berlin, Germany. When they arrive they discover that a large crowd has shown up for the screening and they sit down to watch the movie, a violent horror film. Out in the lobby a woman has scraped herself on the face with a bizarre mask, and she notices that the mask is the exact same as a prop used in the film. She goes to the bathroom, and as she looks in the mirror the cut on her face bursts open, spewing out a foul pus. She is soon transformed into a bloodthirsty, fanged demon. Before long the cinema patrons are forced to battle for their lives as one by one they are transformed into vicious monsters.

Two horror segments based on Edgar Allan Poe stories set in and around the city of Pittsburgh. "The Facts in the Case of M. Valdemar" concerns a cheating wife who is trying to scam her dying husband out of millions by having her doctor/hypnotist lover hypnotize the geezer into signing his dough over to her. The old man dies while under hypnosis and is stuck in the limbo between the here and the hereafter. The door to the physical world is opened and the undead attempt to enter it.

While Italian director Emilio Miraglia never rose to the heights of some of his fellow directors like Dario Argento or even Umberto Lenzi, he holds a special place in a many a genre fan's withered heart for a few of the six films he did direct: a crime film entitled Assassination starring the one and only Henry Silva, a Spaghetti Western starring Richard Harrison entitled Shoot, Joe, Shoot! and the two giallos that are in this set from No Shame Films, the infamous The Night Evelyn Came Out Of The Grave and the, until now, elusive The Red Queen Kills Seven Times. Both films prove to be solid thrillers with some great casts, plenty of style, and some cool murder set pieces as well.

A psychic who can read minds picks up the thoughts of a murderer in the audience and soon becomes a victim. An English pianist gets involved in solving the murders, but finds many of his avenues of inquiry cut off by new murders, and he begins to wonder how the murderer can track his movements so closely.
