Since forming in Melbourne The Paper Kites (which includes frontman Sam Bentley, vocalist Christina Lacy, guitarist Dave Powys, drummer Josh Bentley and bassist Sam Rasmussen) have earned a loyal, organic fan base. In the eight years since they formed, what's followed is an impressive reach of their music, with steady international touring, nearly 47 million combined YouTube views and over 260 million streams. The Paper Kites co-produced new album "On the Corner Where You Live" with Grammy-winner Peter Katis (Gang Of Youths, The National, Interpol) at his studio in Connecticut - a 120 year old Victorian era home that the band lived and recorded in for 5 weeks. "On the Corner Where You Live" wafts evocatively with noir-ish saxophones, guitars, ambient traffic, even the languid sound of rain. Its levitating and bittersweet, heavy-hearted stories that are resoundingly universal "On the Corner Where You Live" is the Australian band's melancholic, mid-tempo companion to the recently released album, "On the Train Ride Home."

Ultramarine is the fourth studio album by Young Galaxy, released in April 2013. As with their previous album, it was produced by Dan Lissvik and was released on Paper Bag Records. The album was named a longlisted nominee for the 2013 Polaris Music Prize on June 13, 2013 and named to the short list on July 16, 2013. Young Galaxy's 2013 album, Ultramarine, picks up on the mature, sophisticated pop sound the Canadian band developed for 2011's Shapeshifting. These are languid, gorgeously crafted tracks that find the band delving even deeper than on Shapeshifting into an atmospheric, slow-burn aesthetic that holds up on repeated listens. As with its predecessor, Ultramarine showcases lead singer Catherine McCandless' warm vocals framed in layers of chilly synthesizers.

Blues/Folk | Country: South Africa (Cape Town) | Label: Alice Phoebe Lou

Alice Phoebe Lou's refusal to conform to pop industry norms has led to Paper Castles, an honest collection of songwriting that mixes jazz, blues and indie-folk elements. She tackles tricky subject matter with grace and honesty: she calls out an attempted assault on “Skin Crawl” as acoustic guitars and strings swell around her, and describes a tumultuous romance as an “Ocean”. Throughout, she sings in a piercing voice full of strength and vibrato about how ill-conceived and fragile the forts we build around us really are, and breaks them down in favour of raw, unadorned truth.
