Neil Young has announced the release of Toast, a shelved 2001 album he made with Crazy Horse and declined to put out at the time because it was "so sad."
Aptly, the album is heavy and distressed, brimming with electrifying tension. Even its sweet-sounding opening track, 'Quit', features the refrain, 'Don't say you love me'. 'Standing in the Light of Love' and 'Goin' Home' let the Horse off the tether in fields of overdriven guitar; an out-of-work logger grapples with his faith on the breakneck 'Timberline'; and on 'Gateway of Love', Young dreams of a less painful future over a hypnotizing 10 minutes, leading into the somber, brokedown 'How Ya Doin'?' The songwriter sums up the album best during its shadowy finale 'Boom Boom Boom': 'All I got is a broken heart, and I don't try to hide it when I play my guitar'.

Tango is the product of people drawn together on the margins of Buenos Aires in the late nineteenth century. From the slum districts on the outskirts of the capital to the ports, the music of the people merged – Andalusian Flamenco, southern Italian melodies, Cuban habanera, African candomblé percussion and milonga. Alexander Sevastian, the four-time first prize winner of international accordion competitions, offers here a virtuosic version of some of the great tangos by Piazzolla and other famous composers. Emotion and first class virtuosity!

Louis Clark, former arranger for Electric Light Orchestra, conducted the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra playing a collection of very recognizable extracts from classical music pieces played over a continuous beat (sometimes an overtly disco fast beat, sometimes a slower and more subtle rhythm, always produced by a LinnDrum) that linked the segments together.

The Hooked on Classics series consists of arrangements of classical favorites, with an added, pronounced beat, giving the music a rock or disco flavor. The series was the brainchild of Louis Clark, who had been the arranger for Electric Light Orchestra, and who conducted the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Many of the numerous Hooked on … albums became crossover best-sellers.
