Justin Hayward's Night Flight was never too impressive in its original LP release – the pressing was noisy and the sound was just different enough from his prior records to be off-putting. The quarter century since its release has allowed the recording to age well; additionally, the 2004 remastered edition finally shows off the finer points of producer Jeff Wayne's approach to serious advantage – the music comes off as lean and spacious, and Hayward's singing displays the power and richness in this reissue to carry the album properly. Additionally, one of the two bonus tracks, a live version of "Forever Autumn" from a concert at San Juan Capistrano, extends the value of the CD considerably, as a previously unreleased version of the song that started Hayward's professional relationship with Wayne and led to the recording of the original LP (in addition to being one of the prettiest songs with which Hayward has ever been associated).

Compiling the third and fourth solo albums by sideman-to-the-stars David Bromberg, Wanted Dead or Alive/Midnight on the Water includes Bromberg's virtuoso musicianship, eccentric songwriting, and endearingly off-key vocals, along with plenty of guest spots: Bonnie Raitt, Linda Ronstadt, Emmylou Harris, and on the first, most of the Grateful Dead.
David Greco and Erin Helyard present the first Australian recording of Schubert’s masterpiece on period instruments.
The House of David was David "Fathead" Newman's comeback album of sorts, marking his first release after the end of his association with Ray Charles and a few years spent with his family in his hometown of Dallas. Organist Kossie Gardner, guitarist Ted Dunbar, and drummer Milt Turner support Newman's gritty "Texas tenor" sound, which captures the straightforwardness of R&B pop and the improvisational elements of jazz. Newman plays the flute on the spunky "Miss Minnie," but one of the most interesting songs on the album is the untypical rendition of a Bob Dylan tune, "Just Like a Woman." the artist's warm tenor lifts this song to angelic heights, and it's fathomed that he had only heard the song a few times before laying down this recording…
Luck and Strange is David Gilmour's fifth solo record and only his third of the 21st century. The Pink Floyd guitarist clearly understands his life's privilege; he has made some of rock's most memorable music, toured its biggest stages, and been named a Commander of the Order of the British Empire. He could easily coast along for the duration of his career. Instead, he has continued to tour, collaborated widely, advocated for numerous just causes, and donated the money from selling his home and guitars to charity. If he wants to make just one album per decade, he's earned the right. Appearing nine years after 2015's Rattle That Lock, Luck and Strange brings together a supporting cast that's both fresh and familiar, and also familial.
