Skylarking is the ninth studio album by the English rock band XTC, released on 27 October 1986. Produced by American musician Todd Rundgren, Skylarking is a loose concept album centered around various cycles in life, such as the seasons, days, and years. The title was chosen as a double entendre, referring to a type of bird (skylark), as well as the British navy term "skylarking", which means "fooling around". The album was listed on "100 greatest albums of the 1980s" lists by Rolling Stone in 1989 and Pitchfork in 2002.

Todd Rundgren may be best known for his eclectic work as a solo artist and as a member of Utopia, but he's also produced some of the most acclaimed, influential, and successful rock releases since the early '70s. As with his own music career, Rundgren has never been afraid to take on a wide variety of musical styles, and he applies the same rule to his role as producer, as evidenced by the 18-track compilation An Elpee's Worth of Productions. When it comes to music, Todd-of-all-trades might be more appropriate than the traditional Jack to signify a man of many talents. Unlike Jack, though, Rundgren is a master of them all.
Twenty-year-old Todd Rundgren first came to attention in 1968 as the precociously talented leader of Nazz who could write memorable songs and play guitar “just like ringing a bell”, as Chuck was once wont to say. Initially he was unsure about his vocal capabilities, but by the time he had gone solo and released his breakthrough third album, “Something / Anything”, in 1972, it was clear that he had tonsils to match his prodigious songwriting and musical skills. He not only wrote, arranged, sang and produced the whole double album but even played all of the instruments on three sides of the release.

The Fuzzy Warbles Collectors Album brings together over 100 songs from XTC frontman Andy Partridge's songwriting archive. Recorded over the years whilst Andy and XTC were signed to Virgin Records and later to the Idea and Ape labels, the material is spread across eight volumes featuring songs and alternate versions of many XTC favorites that never made it onto the respective final albums or never made the cut when the final tracklistings were decided. There are also songs Andy never got to complete that he's re-visited and finished off especially for this Fuzzy Warbles series.

Here’s a 65 track, 3 x CD compilation of ‘acoustic’ tracks from the 1950s through to the early 2000s. By far, one of the best compilations out there with well known hits brilliantly placed together with lesser known classics that didn’t always trouble the chart placings. There certainly isn’t a ‘filler’ track on any of the discs and even the more ‘folky’ disc 3 is superbly constructed to keep the listener enthralled throughout.
