Delta Deep Down In The Delta

Phil Collen, lead guitarist of British rock band Def Leppard and alternative roots/rock band Manraze, started Delta Deep as an extreme blues project. The band has been likened to "Aretha Franklin & Chaka Khan performing with Led Zeppelin", thanks to the soulful vocals from singer Debbi Blackwell-Cook.. Phil's love and appreciation for the blues since childhood enabled him to move forward quickly with the band's inception in 2012. "Blues was created out of something completely different from what we hear today. I grew up listening to rock music but then I found out it was all based on blues. Jimmy Page, Hendrix, all of those guys-they got it from blues.

Delta Deep is a new soulful Blues-Rock project featuring Phil Collen (Def Leppard), Robert DeLeo (Stone Temple Pilots), Debbi Blackwell-Cook (Michael Buble, Luther Vandross) and Forrest Robinson (India Arie, Joe Sample & The Crusaders). Although widely known for selling one hundred million albums worldwide with his rock band Def Leppard, Phil Collen also has an immense love and appreciation for blues, funk, and soul music. The album also includes special guests Joe Elliott (Def Leppard), David Coverdale (Whitesnake) and Paul Cook (Sex Pistols).

Delta Moon – winner of the Blues Foundation's International Blues Challenge held in Memphis, February 1, 2003 – formed in the late 1990s when Gina Leigh, Mark Johnson, and Tom Gray all lived within a few blocks of each other in Atlanta's Inman Park neighborhood.
