30 prime slabs of mid-60s USA garage punk MISERY - garage punk SADness from LPs 7 & 8 with liner notes, band photos, label scans. (NOTE: This is an entirely NEW series and NONE of these tracks were on the old series “GARAGE PUNK UNKNOWNS”). If anyone knows angst, it's a teenager, a breed that thrives on wearing misery on their sleeves. Fans of vintage '60s garage rock usually favor sneering delinquents armed with fuzz pedals, but there was a long-running subgenre of garage rock that dealt with heartbroken guys trying to make sense of a cold, unforgiving world (or at the very least, cold, unforgiving girls). Crypt Records has given these bummed-out classics their due on Last of the Garage Punk Unknowns, Vols. 7-8, subtitled "Heartbroken American Garage Jangle Misery 1963-1967."

With Your Wilderness, Bruce Soord's the Pineapple Thief shift their musical focus away from their exploration of polished rock so evident on 2012's All the Wars and 2014's Magnolia, and back toward contemporary prog. Drummer Dan Osborne, who made his debut with the band on Magnolia, proved short-lived in his role; he has been replaced by Porcupine Tree/King Crimson kit man Gavin Harrison. Soord also enlisted guests including Supertramp's John Helliwell on clarinet, Caravan's string player/arranger Geoffrey Richardson, Godsticks' guitarist Darran Charles, and a four-voice choir. Harrison's addition can't be overstated. His playing extends the reach of their musicality exponentially.
The album title denotes themes of isolation, loneliness, and alienation - not unfamiliar ones in PT's oeuvre. That said, they've never been explored with such a brooding focus as they are here…

Utopianisti is Finnish composer/multi-instrumentalist/producer Markus Pajakkala's brainchild, started in 2010. It's a studio project where the line-up changes for every song. Pajakkala plays the drums, woodwinds and some keyboards himself and composes and engineers all the material. Guest musicians are plenty, from different genres - classically trained, jazz, folk and rock musicians. The style is mostly instrumental, energetic jazz-rock / eclectic prog with occasional leaps towards Balkan gypsy music, tango, avant-garde, latin or even operatic metal. Pajakkala is also a key member in the band Poutatorvi.

Hawklords have been working a solid routine of album and tour annually for the past few years, with a few festival dates each summer thrown in for good measure, and through all of this they’ve developed a distinct space-rock vision, distinct from individual members' past Hawkwind associations. Lian Ross is a German Hi-NRG/Euro disco singer. She has recorded successful covers such as Sylvester's "Do You Wanna Funk" and Modern Talking's "You're My Heart, You're My Soul." Her original hit songs include, "Say You'll Never", "Fantasy", and "Scratch My Name" among others. A compilation of her hit singles and choice tracks, "The Best of and More" was released in 2005. One of her recent successful hit singles is, "Never Gonna Lose" released on ZYX Records in Germany on December 27, 2005 and her number one hit "Young Hearts Run Free" was released on Blanco y Negro Music in Spain on September 9, 2009. Her 2013 album ”I Got The Beat” comprised a variety of musical styles including Tribal House with the song ”Around The World”, Electropop with the song ”Shake Your Booty” and a new version of Lians ”Say You’ll Never”.
