The story opens with a violent clash between cops and criminals, in one of the most visually stunning shootouts committed to film in recent years. Professional thief, Yuen (Richie Ren), and his crew are interrupted during the completion of a heist, placing them in the sights of rogue cop, Cheung (Nick Cheung). When the news crews arrive and film the long shootout in the streets of Hong Kong, the public is outraged at the lack of preparation and protection from the police, and watch as the thieves make their escape. After the crew’s suspected hideout is revealed, bold, new police commissioner, Rebecca Fong (Kelly Chen) proposes that the police invite the media to film what should be a smooth takedown, in order to win back public approval. The events that follow lead both sides of the law into an unpredictable finale with the cameras rolling throughout.

Une équipe du journal télévisé retransmet en direct la fusillade qui oppose un bataillon de forces de police à cinq malfrats qui viennent de dévaliser une banque. La diffusion de la défaite humiliante des policiers porte un coup terrible à leur crédibilité. Jurant de capturer les criminels, la police réquisitionne 30 000 hommes, lance des patrouilles dans toute la ville, sur les routes qui permettent de quitter Hong Kong, et surveille attentivement le périmètre de la frontière. Alors qu'il mène une autre enquête dans un bâtiment vétuste, le détective Heng découvre par hasard le repère des cambrioleurs. Le chef du gang, Yuan, voit alors des milliers de policiers se rassembler autour de l'immeuble et se préparer à lancer l'assaut. Pour damer le pion aux médias sur leur propre terrain, l'inspecteur Rebecca décide de transformer cet assaut en véritable spectacle télévisé.

The heterogeneous output of Santiago de Murcia, one of the key figures in the Baroque guitar repertory, includes a number of transcriptions from the Op. 5 of Arcangelo Corelli, the famous collection of "sonatas with violin and string bass or harpsichord" published in Rome in 1700. The diffusion of Corelli’s works in Spain, and in particular in Madrid, suggests how highly the Italian style was valued at the court of Philip V, where Santiago taught Queen Maria Luisa of Savoy between 1704 and 1706. This gave rise to the idea of investigating the relationship between the Spanish and Italian styles in de Murcia’s guitar music.
