From a 21st-century perspective, Sibelius may appear to stand more or less alone in the history of Finnish music. It is easy to forget that he could not have fulfilled his artistic potential if his environment had not been conducive to musical creativity. But much of the music that was part of that environment has been almost completely forgotten, often because its aesthetic didn’t accord with the prevailing nationalist trends of the late 19th century. In this programme of choral works, Nils Schweckendiek and his Helsinki Chamber Choir guide us through some 80 years of Finnish music for choir, from the period when the country formed part of the Russian Empire, as the Grand Duchy of Finland.

Jazz is played on trumpets, saxophones, banjos and drums, right? Jazz always has the word “blues” in its titles, or else the name of a Broadway song. We all know that, ok? But listen, dig deep into the history of the music and it becomes clear that some of the earliest jazz or pre-jazz performances, played after hours, away from the big house and in private, almost certainly involved string players who’d been employed to accompany waltzes, polkas and maybe reels for the plantation owner and his guests. So we shouldn’t be too surprised to hear jazz performed on violin, viola and cello.

Microsoft has releasing Windows 10 Insider Preview version 2004 Build 19608 to Windows Insiders in the Fast ring which is a next Windows 10 version is the Windows 10 20H1 update aka Windows 10 Version 2004 and it will be released sometime in April 2020 to public. The version 2004 update is a major feature update and brings many new features, changes and improvements.
