Untied is the 2017 album by Chinese singer 丁薇 (Dingwei). This was released on the Cooking Vinyl label.

Dingwei, one of Chinas most successful solo female singer/songwriters, has received a phenomenal number of accolades in Asia. With a career spanning over fifteen years at the very forefront of the music business, Dingwei has received awards such as: Best Female Artist, Mainland Artist, Best Mainland Singer-Songwriter, Best Producer of 5th Pepsi Music Charts, Movie and TV Music Award of 6th China Gold Record Award and Oriental New Artist Award of 2nd Oriental Music Awards to name a few.

I have had very little exposure to the music coming out of China but if Dingwei is the benchmark, I’ll be finding out a bit more. Her music falls into the electro category, underpinned by some gorgeous classical overtones. Once you add in a voice that transfixes you, the result is amazing.
