It's September 1981 and it's matter of weeks away from the release of 'I'M A RAINBOW', the second album Donna Summer had recorded for Geffen Records, which had also been produced by Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte. At the time that the album was being recorded, the musical landscape had changed and production techniques were developing further. Geffen also wanted a more R&B-influenced album, despite the album having a more R&B feel than 'The Wanderer' had done.

1980: within a year of her ground-breaking double-album "bad Girls", Donna summer left Casablanca Records to become the first artist signed to the new geffen Records label. "The wanderer" Was the first album released on the label. Legendary producers GIORGIO MORORDER and Pete bellotte remained at the helm. With standout tracks 'looking up', 'cold love', 'who do you think you're foolin'' And 'nightlife', "the wanderer" Continued donna's creative output. "The wanderer" Was released the year after the 'disco Demolition night' Event, which was held, ironically, two days before 'bad Girls' Became a us #1 single and despite introducing more rock-infused dance/pop tunes - copied by many artists through the 1980s - The album - which despite being another us Billboard top 20 album with a #3 single - has been under-appreciated…until now!

Donna Summer's title as the "Queen of Disco" wasn't mere hype. Like many of her contemporaries, she was a talented vocalist trained as a powerful gospel belter, but she set herself apart with her songwriting ability, magnetic stage presence, and shrewd choice of studio collaborators, all of which resulted in sustained success. During the '70s alone, she topped the Billboard club chart 11 times with high-quality, often high-concept material that included the rapturous "Love to Love You Baby" (1975), the innovative "I Feel Love" (1977), a radically transformed "MacArthur Park" (1978), and one of her five Grammy-winning recordings, "Hot Stuff" (1979).

Amy Heckerling's film "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" had a couple of things in its favor–a funny script from a very young Cameron Crowe, great performances from Sean Penn and a bevy of previously undiscovered young stars some of whom went on to bigger and better things.
The film also had a terrific soundtrack. It's virtually half of an Eagles album even though they don't perform together. Don Henley contributes the terrific "Love Rules", melodic Tim Schmitt track "So Mich In Love", a Joe Walsh radio ready rocker and Don Felder's "Never Surrender" (that, of course, happened because the manager of the band Irving Azoff acted as a producer on the film). Poco turns in a fine track and Jackson Browne's superb "Somebody's Baby" which didn't show up on one of his albums (a best of) until 15 years later. Other popular performers including Donna Summer, Sammy Hagar, Stevie Nicks, Oingo Boingo and Graham Nash all contribute fine tracks as well filling out the album.

The first great rock & roll compilation soundtrack of the '80s, Fast Times at Ridgemont High sold in the millions (justifiably) and gave Jackson Browne a Top Ten hit with "Somebody's Baby." Also included is "I Don't Know (Spicoli's Theme)" by Jimmy Buffett.

We are proud to present ’THE BEST ELECTRONIC ALBUM IN THE WORLD… EVER!’ which over 60 tracks includes some of the most influential songs ever recorded. The emergence of the synth pop and dance music exploded in the late 70’s. Dancefloors were changed forever in 1977 when the pulsating and hypnotic ‘I Feel Love’ by Donna Summer showed the way forward, the track is included here alongside synth-driven dance cuts from Lipps Inc and Tom Tom Club and late 70s synth-pop classics from The Buggles and Blondie.
