The Lilac Time are a British alternative rock band that was originally formed in Herefordshire, England by Stephen Duffy, his brother Nick Duffy and their friend Michael Weston in 1986. The band's name was taken from a line in the Nick Drake song "River Man." Since their formation, the Lilac Time have gone through various line-up changes with the Duffy brothers as mainstays. The band's activity have intertwined with Stephen Duffy's solo and songwriting career.

With no new album or "greatest hits plus two new songs" collection to tour behind, it seems a bit odd that the Cult would see 2006 as the right time to return. But as much as lead singer Ian Astbury enjoyed his time playing with the Doors Of The 21st Century, only the guitar work of Billy Duffy ever got the best out of him. And Astbury only brought out the best in Duffy. So, with the promise of new material on the horizon, the Cult hit the homestretch of its Canadian tour with all systems running as well as can be expected.

Seventy-seven tracks on 5 CDs, 51 of which are previously unreleased, all of which are broken down into three parts: The E.Zee Demos, The Sonic Temple Demos, and Demos 1986 ~ 1989 ~ 1991 (feat. Hot Night Demos, Jam Demos & Ceremony Sessions). Each part comes in a gatefold or tri-fold digipack case with a booklet containing extensive liner notes and artwork from the actual demo tapes. All digipacks fit into a larger cardboard slipcase. Most tracks are instrumental versions. Holy grail or overcomplete release; it's up to you to decide…

In 1865, a handful of Welsh exiles took refuge in Argentina, and the long-standing interaction between these two very different cultures sets the stage for this comedy-drama from filmmaker Marc Evans. Gwen (Nia Roberts) and Rhys (Matthew Gravelle) are a couple from Cardiff whose relationship is going through a rough patch; her career as an actress is in a slump, so when he gets an assignment to do a photo essay on the Welsh community in Patagonia, she tags along as an assistant. While Gwen and Rhys are hoping the working holiday with help kick-start their marriage, things take a turn for the worse when she becomes infatuated with Mateo (Matthew Rhys), a handsome local man working as their driver. Meanwhile, Alejandro (Nahuel Perez Biscayart) grudgingly agrees to accompany his elderly aunt Cerys (Marta Lubos) as she leaves her small village to have needed surgery, but he soon discovers she actually has other plans, and is instead flying to Wales to see the land her late mother once called home. Patagonia received its world premiere at the 2010 Seattle International Film Festival.

A limited-edition, 6-CD box set of 90 tracks including 78 previously unreleased in the US and 48 previously unreleased anywhere. All tracks are studio (not live) recordings and include all studio B sides, the full Peace album (aka the "Manor Sessions"), complete radio sessions, 12" mixes, alternate versions and out-takes, unreleased masters and work-in-progress demos. The box also includes an 80-page booklet. Some copies include a bonus 7th CD of additonal mixes and extended versions released on the original singles.

Cult - Beyond Good And Evil (2001) Music

During their late-'80s heyday, the Cult were known for their Doors-meets-Zeppelin-meets-Love and Rockets style, combining mysticism, solid three-chord guitar progressions, and goth rock stylings. In their 2001 incarnation, the Cult may be more accurately described as the Doors meets Zeppelin meets Tool. Guitarist Billy Duffy seems to have discovered distortion in the seven years since their last album. Not warm fuzz tones, but bone-crunching, mind-numbing distortion. While the music has changed, it still sounds like the Cult thanks to singer Ian Astbury's consistent wails and moans.
