The First Eden: The Mediterranean World and Man is a BBC documentary series written and presented by David Attenborough, first transmitted in the UK from 8 March 1987.

Based on an actual event. A cash delivery truck is ambushed and robbed in a quiet highway. The perpetrators are neither gangsters nor habitual offenders. Instead they are good-hearted and law-abiding citizens. These five persons are rookie insurance salespersons who find it impossible to meet their quotas or get work elsewhere.

24 hours in L.A.; it's raining cats and dogs. Two parallel and intercut stories dramatize men about to die: both are estranged from a grown child, both want to make contact, and neither child wants anything to do with dad. Earl Partridge's son is a charismatic misogynist; Jimmy Gator's daughter is a cokehead and waif. A mild and caring nurse intercedes for Earl, reaching the son; a prayerful and upright beat cop meets the daughter, is attracted to her, and leads her toward a new calm. Meanwhile, guilt consumes Earl's young wife, while two whiz kids, one grown and a loser and the other young and pressured, face their situations. The weather, too, is quirky.

Three stories - one each from the past, present, and future - about men in pursuit of eternity with their love. A conquistador in Mayan country searches for the tree of life to free his captive queen; a medical researcher, working with various trees, looks for a cure that will save his dying wife; a space traveler, traveling with an aged tree encapsulated within a bubble, moves toward a dying star that's wrapped in a nebula; he seeks eternity with his love. The stories intersect and parallel; the quests fail and succeed.

A dying teacher instructs his final student to check on the activities of five former pupils, each of whom he taught a unique and special style of kung-fu to: The Centipede, Snake, Scorpion, Lizard, and Toad (hence the title). His final student, who knows a little of each style must team up with one of the other good students to destroy the evil ones if there are any. Greed and treachery ensue as the student discovers that some of the students are indeed evil. But which one can he trust enough to team up with?

A Santa Fe district attorney and his wife take desperate measures to find a lung donor for their dying daughter in this topical thriller starring Dermot Mulroney and Diane Kruger. Their daughter Chloe stricken with a degenerative condition that's quickly cutting off her air supply, Paul (Mulroney) and his wife, Diane (Kruger), hit a dead end in the American medical system. But when Chloe's health takes a turn for the worse, desperation leads Paul to Juarez, Mexico, and a mysterious medico named Dr. Novarro. Though Dr. Novarro may be the only hope for performing a successful lung transplant before it's too late, his close ties to the Mexican criminal underworld soon lead the desperate parents to second-guess their decision to go with such a radical alternative treatment. But before Paul and Diane can get Chloe to the operating room, they realize she might not be the only member of the family that will never make it back home.

Considered by some to be Akira Kurosawa's greatest achievement, Ikiru presents the director at his most compassionate—affirming life through an exploration of a man's death. Takashi Shimura portrays Kanji Watanabe, an aging bureaucrat with stomach cancer forced to strip the veneer off his existence and find meaning in his final days. Told in two parts, Ikiru offers Watanabe's quest in the present, and then through a series of flashbacks. The result is a multifaceted look at a life through a prism of perspectives, resulting in a full portrait of a man who lacked understanding from others in life.
