This 4 CD set tells the story of music and people who moved from one corner of the US to another - namely the southerners who relocated to the West Coast in the 30s and 40s, bringing country music along with them. This box features 75 Elvis songs from 1954 to 1960. These songs already existed before Elvis adopted them as his own. We collected 177 original versions of songs, which Elvis interpreted and compared them to the versions from Elvis. Both, popular songs and rarities are featured in this box. You are going to be surprised. Most of the Elvis fans do not even know that Elvis covered so many songs, he owned a huge record collection with records from various genres. Some people even think that "Blue Suede Shoes" is an Elvis song. You can also find the chart position of the American single charts from both, the original song and Elvis´ interpretation. To be on the safe side, we marked some songs with "probably" or "possibly", when the similarity is not too obvious. In some cases, it is more or less obvious that Elvis used a certain song as a draft, but we never talked to Elvis to confirm this.
