What a nice surprise to get a new album from this Finnish band, already five years since their second album Behind the Curtains. But as the extended title suggests, this is a special project. Some background information first: in April 2015 the core members of Paidarion (drummer Kimmo Pörsti and bassist Jan-Olof Strandberg) invited several friends from various countries to join them on a small tour in southern Finland. These friends were the US vocalist Jenny Darren, British hard-rock bassist Kev Moore, Hungarian guitarist Ákos Bogáti-Bokor (leader of the bands Yesterdays and Tabula Smaragdina), Finnish electronic music -oriented musician Otso Pakarinen, and Robert Webb (best known as the frontman of the 70's band ENGLAND)…
Mura Masa is the upcoming eponymous debut album by music producer Mura Masa. It is scheduled to be released on 14 July 2017. "Love for That", featuring vocals from British synthpop musician Shura, was released as a buzz single for the album in October 2015. The album's lead single "What If I Go?" (which features uncredited vocals from Irish singer/songwriter Bonzai) was released in April 2016. The album's second single "Love$ick", which features vocals from ASAP Rocky, was released in September 2016. "Love$ick" was originally released as an instrumental, entitled "Lovesick Fuck", and was featured on Mura Masa's debut extended play Someday Somewhere.
One of the towering figures of 20th century's music, Alabama-born pianist and organist Herman "Sun Ra" Blount (1914) became the cosmic musician par excellence. Despite dressing in extraterrestrial costumes (but inspired by the pharaohs of ancient Egypt) and despite living inside a self-crafted sci-fi mythology (he always maintained that he was from Saturn, and no biographer conclusively proved his birth date) and despite littering his music with lyrics inspired to a self-penned spiritual philosophy (he never engaged in sexual relationships apparently because he considered himself an angel), Sun Ra created one of the most original styles of music thanks to a chronic disrespect for both established dogmas and trendy movements.
Konchordat hail from Kent in the UK. They are a progressive rock band in the 'English' tradition; their music has been described as "majestic and often epic in scale." On their debut album 'English Ghosts' the music is led by main stays Steve Cork (basses, keyboards), Lee Harding (voice, keyboards) and Stuart Martin (guitars, keyboards, vocals). The album 'English Ghosts' scored 7/10 in a review by Geoff Bartom in Classic Rock Magazine (Feb.2010, issue 141). "The 20-minute title track is stately and masterful…" Their second album - The New Crusade - saw a personnel change, with Stuart taking over lead vocal duties as well as guitar. The new album has been described by Paul Baker - SoundScapes show on UK internet station ARFM as "A Classic Prog Album."
