"Their Greatest Hits 1971–1975" is the first compilation album by the Eagles, originally released in 1976. The album contains a selection of songs from the Eagles' first four albums released in the period from the Eagles' formation in 1971 up to 1975. It was the best-selling album of the 20th century in the United States, and it stayed the best-selling album in the U.S. for some years until it was surpassed by Michael Jackson's Thriller after the artist's death in 2009. It is the second highest-certified album by the Recording Industry Association of America at 29× Platinum, behind Thriller. In 2017, it was selected for preservation in the National Recording Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or artistically significant".

This 2017 set pairs the two greatest-hits compilations from Eagles: 1976's mega-blockbuster Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975 and 1982's Greatest Hits, Vol. 2. Nothing new has been added to the set, there's no new remastering, so this is just an easy way to acquire both of these compilations. While that's handy enough, curious consumers should also check out 2003's The Very Best of the Eagles, which also runs two discs but has far more tracks and includes material from 1994's reunion Hell Freezes Over along with a new studio track. It provides slightly more bang for the buck.
