The performance here of Samson is definitive. It is lively, colourful and highly dramatic. There is no comparison with the tedious performance by the Sixteen on Coro. The performance of the Messiah with limited modern instrumental forces of the English Chamber Orchestra and Chorus with very good soloists doesn't sacrifice grandeur nor does it go to the other extreme of over-blown pomp. It is a very good performamce on modern instruments under the direction of the Baroque music specialist conductor Raymond Leppard.
High-profile games aren’t exactly innovative these days. Because of that, Warhorse Studios’ Kingdom Come: Deliverance comes as a revelation. Originally conceived as a crowd-funded project, Deliverance seeks to reinvent the RPG genre in a number of ways. Its adherence to historical accuracy and overall attention to detail is nothing short of awe-inspiring. Folks looking for something exceptional will find a lot to appreciate here.
Max Pommer, sometimes called one of the few remaining "Old World" conductors, first drew attention for his interpretations of the works of J.S. Bach and other Baroque composers. But since the 1980s he has explored a much broader range of repertory, taking in compositions by contemporary Finnish composers Einojuhani Rautavaara and Kalevi Aho, as well as more traditional fare by Haydn, Mozart, Schubert, Debussy, and even Weill. Pommer, more than most first – rank conductors, has devoted much of his career to teaching, as well as to conducting university ensembles
DISCO SESSIONS features 2 CD’s of classics from the genre. Unlike the majority of Disco compilations it also features a number of lesser known classics from the same period which helped shape the sound of the scene, together with early 80’s club floorfillers that continued to fly the flag long after Disco had become a by-word for naff stateside. The overall result is two very danceable CD’s that should help soundtrack any party you care to throw.
