Christmas is a dangerous time. Especially if youre an adult, you dont feel the need to get together with family members with whom you hardly speak to during the rest of the year, who are in a critical stage of their umpteenth diet, and from badulaque to the majestic retail centres, the gynaecologists waiting room or the tax-office lift, a conspiracy of shepherds, virgins, Jesus boys and mother of Mary kids twitter in unison in the same old persistent song. These are the dreadful carols, a genre within themselves licensed with rampant persecution and endless repetition which shows no mercy.

Michal Svoboda was born in Znojmo (Czech Republic) in 1985. He started his guitar studies with Stanislav Jurica at Pardubice conservatory. He studied with Alexander Swete at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna and finished his masters degree with honors in 2011.

After the success of previous editions, Radio Classique presents its new 2017 Christmas Grand Concert, a magical and warm musical event, in the spirit of the end of the year festivities. On the program of this concert, the most festive classical masterpieces and a selection of the most beautiful Christmas carols.

Joaquin Diaz Gonzalez (Zamora, 1947) is a Spanish musician and folklorist. Although born in Zamora, the four years he moved to Valladolid, where he studied media and academics. In the mid 60's became involved in the study and dissemination of traditional culture, especially the community of Castile and Leon, offering concerts and lectures at universities in Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Germany, Holland and USA.

He has also dedicated several works to the repertoire of Judeo-Spanish. Has promoted traditional Spanish music on radio and television in Europe, Asia and America. In 1976 he left the live performances to focus exclusively on research and promotion of popular culture. Throughout his long career, he has published some fifty books on various aspects of oral tradition: tales, romances and songs, popular expressions, etc.., And over two hundred articles and essays in various publications. He has recorded some sixty albums and participated in the creation of so many, working with numerous performers and popular music groups.

John Christopher Williams is an Australian virtuosic classical guitarist renowned for his ensemble playing as well as his interpretation and promotion of the modern classical guitar repertoire. In 1973, he shared a Grammy Award in the Best Chamber Music Performance category with fellow guitarist Julian Bream for Julian and John (Works by Lawes, Carulli, Albéniz, Granados). Guitar historian Graham Wade has said: "John is perhaps the most technically accomplished guitarist the world has seen."
