Elvis Costello Painted From Memory

North is a 2003 album by Elvis Costello. It reached 44 in the UK Albums Chart, 57 in the US chart and No. 1 in the US Traditional Jazz chart. Coming after the return rock and roll on When I Was Cruel, North is an intimate album of ballads partially inspired by his relationship with Diana Krall.

This breathtaking album features Costello’s inimitable baritone fronting a spectacular lineup that includes a string quartet, a horn nonet, and a slew of legendary jazz musicians, including Peter Erskine and Lee Konitz. Intimate, jazzy and romantic, this is a truly spectacular and ambitious work by one of popular music’s greatest songwriters. Painted from Memory is a collaboration between Elvis Costello and Burt Bacharach. The collaboration commenced with "God Give Me Strength", a commission for the 1996 film "Grace of My Heart". Apparently pleased with the result, the pair expanded the project to this full album, the first for Costello after an absence of two years, and for Bacharach after an absence of 21 years. Lyrics and music are co-credited to both Bacharach and Costello. "I Still Have That Other Girl" won a Grammy Award in 1998 for "Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals" for Bacharach and Costello.

The Songs of Bacharach & Costello, brings together all of the published songs that Costello has written with Burt Bacharach, celebrating the three decade songwriting partnership between them.

Recorded in Hollywood, New York City and Vancouver, British Columbia, 'Look Now' is beautiful in its simplicity, reflective in its lyrical vision, surrounded by melodies and orchestrations that are nothing short of heavenly. It's the first album Costello has made with The Imposters since the 2008 release of 'Momofuku' and his first new album since the acclaimed 2013 Roots collaboration, 'Wise Up Ghost'.
