To coincide with its 20th anniversary, Eminem has released an expanded edition of The Eminem Show featuring 18 additional songs. The hugely successful fourth studio album arrived all the way back in 2002, and the Detroit rapper has expanded upon the release with instrumentals, previously unreleased tracks, and other rarities. One of the most notable inclusions on the extended tracklist is “Jimmy, Brian and Mike,” a song intended for his third full-length The Marshall Mathers LP.

Eminem's 2005 greatest-hits compilation Curtain Call gathers all of Marshall Mathers's boffo singles together in one convenient place. One could raise the argument that all the Eminem you really need can be found on the perfect one-two punch that was 1999's The Slim Shady LP and 2000's The Marshall Mathers LP, but the hit 2005 "best of" set Curtain Call is a pretty good way to keep up with the irascible rapper's early post-millennial output. This easy-to-digest collection gathers together all of Mr. Mathers's best-known singles, from "My Name Is" and "Guilty Conscience" to "Stan" and "The Real Slim Shady" to the 8 Mile soundtrack banger "Lose Yourself" and The Eminem Show keeper "Cleanin' Out My Closet" and beyond. Three new tracks – "Fack," "When I'm Gone" and "Shake That" (featuring Nate Dogg) – are appended to keep things fresh, while the inclusion of the live performance of "Stan" Eminem did with saucy gal pal Elton John at the 2001 Grammy Awards is a nice touch at the end. Ya can't argue with the hits.

If Eminem's Curtain Call: The Hits really is his final bow and not merely a clever denouement to his series of Eminem Show and Encore albums, it's a worthy way to retire. And even if he stages a comeback years from now, there's little question that the first five years of his career, spanning four albums plus a soundtrack, will be his popular and creative peak, meaning that the time is right for Curtain Call – it has all the songs upon which his legend lies.
