The fourth in the series, this episode charts the story of entertainment in the 20th century. This episode sees Hollywood star Kathleen Turner examine the achievements and legacies of four of the century's greatest entertainers. The story of entertainment in the 20th century ranged from vaudeville clowns to Space Oddities, and everything in between. This was 100 years where technological developments changed the face of entertainment forever - giving rise to our first movie stars, recording artists, and creating a cult of celebrity. In short, the 20th century was the 100 years in which we fell in love with the people who entertained us.

Dermot O'Leary tells the story of exploration, profiling four figures on the shortlist for the greatest explorer, with the public invited to vote for their favourite at the end of the programme. He introduces four explorers – ice-bound hero Ernest Shackleton, Middle East pioneer Gertrude Bell, first man on the Moon Neil Armstrong and anthropologist Jane Goodall. The latter is still alive and well, still travelling across the globe with her conservation message and, in conversation with O’Leary, it’s apparent age hasn’t dimmed her in the slightest. There’s a sequence in Memoryscapes, a lovely short film, in which Širom set about fashioning music from a pile of pots, pans, saucepan lids and empty cans of supermarket lager on the kitchen table. It’s the band in microcosm: cracked, insistent beats, rhythm chasing rhythm, a deadly serious playfulness, and the intimacy of close friendship undercut by the sense of emergency of a flashing torch. Širom are all about the head and the hand, and the dark that always pushes against the light.

After the very well received, both by the audience and critics, debut album Repetitions (Letters to Krzysztof Komeda), focusing on the lesser-known works of the legendary Polish composer, the Wrocław-based EABS decided to further expand this lead and released two more vinyl records, "live" and "on tape", which crowned the "Komeda triptych". The astounding reception of the band's debut whet listeners' appetite for completely new recordings. It took 2 years for the new album to materialise, this time, however, it is filled with 100% original material.

Not Otherwise Specified began life in 2008 and is the brainchild of multi-instrumentalist Craig KERLEY, who after a 15 year hiatus has returned to music. Though sometimes aided by guitarist Jason Rowland, It is in reality a solo endeavour, at least for the present. Kersey takes his inspiration from the likes of DREAM THEATER, GENESIS, PINK FLOYD AND SPOCK'S BEARD and released a debut album in May 2011 titled "Judgment". It's a modern sounding prog album blending heavy guitar riffs, sometimes drifting into metal territory with neo prog style keyboards and powerful rock vocals. Later in 2011 NOT OTHERWISE SPECIFIED released their first single, a cover of the GENESIS classic "Dance On A Volcano".
