Ohad Talmor came to New York in 1995 to study music and since then made Brooklyn his home where he has been one of the "movers and shakers" of the creative jazz scene. On the ground floor of his Prospect Heights loft, he runs the performance space "Seeds".

With Country on My Mind, Carl Smith finds time to walk in the "California Sunshine" and celebrate womanizing ("Wonderful World of Women") before settling into the songs of honky tonkin' and heartache for which he is known. Smith wears Merle Haggard's "I Threw Away the Rose" like an old boot, and handles "Little Ole Wine Drinker" more capably than Robert Mitchum, for whom it was a hit. Marty Robbins' "Knee Deep in the Blues" and the Browns' "I'd Just Be Fool Enough" two songs written by Melvin Endsley are likewise right up Smith's alley, and he fills them with the kind of weariness and defeat that make you want to reach for a whiskey bottle. Country on My Mind produced no hits and was recorded very quickly, but is yet another fine album from a singer whose way with a honky tonk ballad is unsurpassed. This is music made for crying in your drink, so pull up a barstool and enjoy.

Ears & Eyes Records is excited to work with Drew Williams and Wing Walker Orchestra on our first release of the year, Hazel! Long in gestation but immediate in its impact, Wing Walker Orchestra's debut album, Hazel, is a great introduction to one of the East Coast's liveliest ensembles led by 30-year old multi-reedist Drew Williams, who plays bass clarinet on the album. WWO has been working for the last 6 years mostly in New York City while touring the country in smaller incarnations. The recording, produced by GRAMMY-nominee Alan Ferber, will be released on February 15th, 2019 on ears&eyes Records.

Drummer Vinnie Sperrazza grew up in the Utica, New York area, and earned a degree in jazz studies from William Paterson University. While at WPU, he began a long-term musical relationship with the legendary pianist James Williams, which continued until Mr. Williams' passing in July 2004. Through the auspices of Mr. Williams, he performed in many memorable club engagements, concerts, and recordings with such individuals as Clark Terry, Bill Mobley, Steve Wilson, Javon Jackson, Richard Davis, and Mulgrew Miller.
