Eric Burdon & the Animals were nearing the end of their string, at least in the lineup in which they'd come into the world in late 1966, when they recorded Every One of Us in May of 1968, just after the release of their second album, The Twain Shall Meet. The group had seen some success, especially in America, with the singles "When I Was Young," "San Franciscan Nights" and "Sky Pilot" over the previous 18 months, but had done considerably less well with their albums. Every One of Us lacked a hit single to help drive its sales, but it was still a good psychedelic blues album, filled with excellent musicianship by Burdon (lead vocals), Vic Briggs (guitar, bass), John Weider (guitar, celeste), Danny McCulloch (bass,12-string, vocals), and Barry Jenkins (drums, percussion), with new member Zoot Money (credited, for contractual reasons, as George Bruno) on keyboards and vocals.

Eric Is Here is the 1967 album by Eric Burdon & The Animals. While it was credited that way as "their first" album with the modified name, the groups backing Burdon on this release was The Benny Golson Orchestra and The Horace Ott Orchestra, partly due to the production of Tom Wilson. This is the 1995 remaster released by One Way/Polygram.

During the months after Eric Burdon and the remaining members of the original Animals split, the singer cut this album backed by an orchestra and doing songs by Randy Newman, Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil, and other pop-music fixtures; quite a turnaround for the blues purist Burdon, and also very effective as mainstream pop music, including the U.S. hit
"Help Me Girl."……..

Guilty! is a 1971 collaborative album between Jimmy Witherspoon and Eric Burdon. At the time, Burdon used the Los Angeles group War as his backing band, and some of their members are on this album. This is taken from an ARG (Avenue Records Group) CD reissue with the title Black & White Blues.

In the face of the legend that he once was, it's very fashionable to dismiss Eric Burdon's '70s-and-later output as little more than an afterthought – which may or may not be true. But from the moment 1988's I Used to Be an Animal kicks into groove, it's clear that Burdon has spent the last few years doing more than kicking over old traces…

With an 11-minute jam on the blues standard "Crawling Kingsnake," almost as long live takes of "No More Elmore," "It Hurts Me Too," and "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood," and a handful of alternate studio mixes of obscure Burdon originals such as "The Road" and "Power Company," The Unreleased Eric Burdon isn't recommended for neophytes. But unlike some re-recordings of classic Animals singles which give no indication that the songs are recent remakes, it's not at all exploitative, and the folks at Blue Wave Records are clearly Burdon fans.

There are many who have tried to squeeze Eric Burdon's recording career into a few rigidly defined categories. Most love his recordings with the original Animals. Unfortunately, Eric's psychedelic period does seem to be an acquired taste for many. And this is unfortunate because some of his best material is made up of these recordings that seem to reek of pot and incense. It's almost as though you need to recreate the right atmosphere by wearing something of the period like a cossack shirt or a fringed jacket or something paisley and then turn the lights down so that the room is cool and dark……

Eric Burdon never stopped working but he did effectively disappear, falling away from the spotlight sometime before the Animals were inducted to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1994. He kept touring, kept recording, but was decidedly underneath the radar until Bruce Springsteen made him a centerpiece of his 2012 South by Southwest keynote address, inviting the veteran rocker to share the stage with him later that night. Suddenly, Burdon was pushed into the spotlight and he capitalized upon his raised profile, cutting a quick and dirty indie EP with Cincinnati rockers the Greenhornes and then re-upping with Abkco (home of the Animals catalog) for 2013's 'Til Your River Runs Dry, his first high-profile record in eons and his first album of largely original material since 2004.

For his 1995 release Lost Within the Halls of Fame, celebrated singer Eric Burdon delivers more of what listeners expect from him with songs like "I Will Be With You Again," "Is There Another World," "Memories of Anna," "American Dreams," and "Going Back to Memphis." Though a good effort, many longtime fans will probably enjoy his earlier works with the Animals, the New Animals, War, or even the Eric Burdon Band a little more. Still, this album is worth adding to your Eric Burdon collection.
