Exile on Main Street

Exile on Main Street is the tenth studio album by English rock band The Rolling Stones. It was released as a double LP in 1972 and drew on influences from rock & roll, blues, country and soul. Initially "Exile" was greeted with lukewarm reviews, but is now widely considered among the band's finest work and one of the defining masterpieces of the rock era. In 2003, the album was ranked number 7, the band's highest position, on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.

In November 1969, the Rolling Stones’ staged an epic two-night stand at New York’s Madison Square Garden that provided tunes for the band’s first official Stones-approved live album, Get Yer Ya-Ya’s Out! To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Ya-Ya’s!, ABKCO will release a remastered deluxe and super-deluxe edition of the live album, a three-disc/one-DVD box set complete with five unreleased songs from the MSG shows. Additionally, one disc in the set will be dedicated to the sets from the MSG shows’ two opening acts, B.B. King and Ike & Tina Turner.

Upon its release more than three decades ago, Exile on Main Street innovatively wove varying musical genres, instruments and even artists into a compelling rhythmic masterpiece. This new compilation features 10 tracks originally recorded during the Exile era and only recently discovered while working on the reissue project. The unearthed tracks which include such titles as "Plundered My Soul," "Dancing in the Light," "Following the River" and "Pass The Wine" have undergone a unique evolution, while staying true to the essence of the 1972 album. Alternate versions of "Soul Survivor" and "Loving Cup" also are a part of the Exile bonus materials.
