Recognized for his high-speed improvisational skills, fun-loving performance spirit, and a flexible right wrist, guitarist Cory Wong had a multifaceted music career in his base of Minneapolis, Minnesota, before becoming better known for regular guest spots as rhythm guitarist for Ann Arbor R&B/funk outfit Vulfpeck in the mid-2010s. Often incorporating intricate, percussive picking into his rhythm playing, his style merges acoustic and electric techniques gleaned from years invested in both. Wong's second solo LP, a set of lighthearted jazz-funk titled The Optimist, debuted in the Top 20 of the Billboard Jazz Albums chart upon its release in 2018. He picked up a Grammy nomination for his 2020 collaboration with Jon Batiste, Meditations, and returned in 2021 with another collaboration, Golden Hour, with saxophonist Dave Koz. He then joined forces with a bevy of guest artists – including Chromeo, Victor Wooten, and Béla Fleck – on the '80s funk- and pop-inspired Power Station.

After finding himself in 2010's release of Brand New Me, Cory Morrow spent the next five years searching for the meaning of life. Becoming one with his wife brought them two boys before welcoming twin boys in the fall of 2014. Raising four boys the age of four and under is a heavy task on its own, much less trying to write for a forthcoming studio album. The trials and tribulations over the past few years have yielded fifteen all new songs for Cory's eighth studio album. After calling on a few of his songwriting partners, Cory then reached out to long time friend and Producer Lloyd Maines to bring the project to life. Taking hints from songs of old and mixing them with a newfound light, 2015 brings you The Good Fight.

Reel to Real Recordings is proud to announce the label's co- inaugural release, Swingin' in Seattle: Live at the Penthouse (1966-1967), a scintillating set of previously unissued live recordings of the Cannonball Adderley Quintet featuring Cannonball's brother and cornetist Nat Adderley, pianist Joe Zawinul, bassist Victor Gaskin and drummer Roy McCurdy recorded over the course of 4 nights between 1966 and 1967 at the legendary Penthouse jazz club in Seattle, Washington. This is the very same band that recorded the classic Mercy, Mercy, Mercy! Live at "The Club" album on Capitol Records on October 20, 1966, and it captures the quintet in rare form at the height of their most powerful swingin'.

Bob Monaco, who did some limited production work on the group's previous release – the Jimmy Ienner supervised Coming Down Your Way – takes over the production reigns totally here on a more cohesive but still undefined version of the Three Dog Night. Danny Hutton seems to be missing in action – and not in the band spin-off S.S.Fools – while this outing feels like a "Two Dog Night" project with the ominous credit "all selections mixed by Chuck and Cory." A couple of decades later, Chuck Negron's name would be erased from the band's website – totally erased from the visibility of Cory Wells and Danny Hutton's ensemble (isn't that like trying to evict Ginger Baker from Cream???) , so this album is a unique look at what Chuck and Cory did while they were still talking!
