Der 1958 in Dortmund als Frank Martin Strauß geborene FM Einheit ist dem geneigten Hörer meist als prägendes Mitglied der Berliner Formation Einstürzende Neubauten und der Hamburger Punklegende Abwärts in Erinnerung. Daneben waren u.a. sein Auftritt im Kultfilm „Decoder“ und die Beteiligung am Geniale Dilletanten-Festival in Berlin legendär, seit den Neunzigerjahren kennt man „Mufti“ zudem durch mehrfach ausgezeichnete Arbeiten im Hörspiel- und Theatermusik-Bereich, oft gemeinsam Andreas Ammer, sowie Kooperationen u.a. mit Caspar Brötzmann oder der dänischen Vokalistin Gry.

Hot on the heels of the release of their 10th studio album “Atomic Generation,” UK’s finest melodic rock band FM kicked off their tour in support of the album with a typically stunning performance at Frontiers Rock Festival in Milan, Italy in April 2018. FM offered up a set which included fan favorites and classic cuts taken from the band’s first two records, brand new additions to the setlist taken from their last two albums “Heroes and Villains” and “Atomic Generation" and some surprises, such as “Let Love Be The Leader, a single originally released in 1987. The band’s performance was simply faultless and breathtaking. The rhythm section of Pete Jupp and Merv Goldsworthy didn’t miss a beat while Jem Davis provided rich sonic tapestries with his keyboards. Jim Kirkpatrick was absolutely amazing on guitar while Mr. Steve Overland offered more than earned the “Voice Of Rock” tag with his performance. An absolute gem of an album, unmissable for FM and Melodic Rock fans in general!

The Weeknd Releases New Album Dawn FM
The Weeknd has released Dawn FM, a new album that he announced earlier this week. The album features contributions from Tyler, the Creator, Lil Wayne, Quincy Jones, Oneohtrix Point Never, Jim Carrey, Swedish House Mafia, Max Martin, Calvin Harris, and Uncut Gems co-director Josh Safdie. FM hold a very special place in the hearts of UK AOR fans. The band ably showed that Brits could turn their hand to a nimble tune every bit as well as their American counterparts and, in Steve Overland, the band had - and still have - one of the truly great voices in Rock music. Released in 1992, Aphrodisiac was a fine album that continued in the style of their two previous Portrait records releases. Along with Strangeways, Shy and the like, FM were the very best British AOR had to offer.
