The Art of Losing is the second album from Welsh multi-instrumentalist The Anchoress (aka Catherine Anne Davies), following up on her critically acclaimed debut album, Confessions of A Romance Novelist, which was named amongst the Guardian critics’ Albums of the Year, won HMV’s Welsh Album of the Year, Best Newcomer at the PROG awards, and a nomination for the Welsh Music Prize.

The 2CD's contain the complete archival sound recordings of Elvis Presley’s television appearances from 1956-60 remastered and restored. They include interviews as well as the live performances from the Dorsey Brothers “Stage Show,” Milton Berle, Steve Allen and the Ed Sullivan shows. For the first time included on this release, is a newly sourced recently discovered acetate version of Elvis' appearance on the 'Frank Sinatra Timex' show in 1960.

Of the virtues attributable to the classical guitar, the intimate nature of the instrument ranks highly. Ironically it is that very characteristic which for so long relegated the guitar to the salon where it remained until rescued and promoted to the concert platform by the great Andrès Segovia (1893-1987). Perhaps it is this intimate nature that makes the guitar so ideally suited to accompaniment of the human voice, especially the female’s. Many composers including Schubert and Villa-Lobos pursued guitar/voice combinations.
