Fascism Language

This documentary, made with materials from the Luce Archive, tells of a little-known adventure: the attempt of fascism to create a single language, a 'new Italian' adapted to the dogmas of the dictatorship.

This documentary attempts to tell the history of Fascist Italy using color (or colorized) newsreels, still photos, modern shots of historical locations, and reinactments under the narration. It makes this history more real by interweaving the stories of a few representative people into the larger historical story.

In 1930s Bucharest, some of the country’s most brilliant young intellectuals converged to form the Criterion Association.
