Maria Kawahara is a Japanese pattern designer, kimono designer, model, illustrator, and writer from Nagasaki. She has a strong foundation in the traditional Japanese style of kimono design, and has also incorporated a modern sensibility into her work. In order to promote Japanese clothing, she engages in photo art activities that incorporate fashion. In addition to writing books on Japanese culture, she also designs Japanese miscellaneous goods for department stores and museum shops. She is the official writer for KIMONO BIJIN and plans to launch a kimono brand called "Mico Parade."
