Roscoe ‘Fatty’ Arbuckle made his triumphant return to comedy in the six sparkling Vitaphone shorts he headlines in this collection, two co-starring Shemp Howard himself. While Fatty’s return was tragically cut short by his untimely passing, another talent was on the rise – Shemp Howard, sporting one unforgettable mug. Witness Shemp’s career path from bit player to chief second banana in the span of two short years. The 18 shorts found in this 2-Disc collection were all shot in Depression Era Brooklyn by the Vitaphone team, providing a magical (and hilarious!) look at a lost time and place.

Roscoe Arbuckle, conocido como "Fatty", es un famoso actor cómico de la década de 1910. Descubrió y lanzó al cine a Buster Keaton, con quien formó un dúo cómico. Incluso prestó uno de sus pantalones a Charlie Chaplin, regalando al actor uno de los accesorios que componían su famoso vagabundo. Pero "Fatty" fue acusado en 1921 de violación y asesinato durante una de las fiestas de desenfreno que le gustaba organizar. La América puritana lo convirtió en un chivo expiatorio y le costó tres juicios públicos para limpiar su nombre. Aunque todo el mundo le rechazaba, siempre podía contar con su amigo: Buster Keaton.

Los Angeles. Septembre 1921. Acteur et réalisateur, Roscoe Arbuckle, dit "Fatty", est au sommet de sa gloire. Plus connu que Charlie Chaplin et Buster Keaton réunis, il est le premier acteur à gagner un million de dollars par an. Mais l'Amérique puritaine souhaite moraliser Hollywood et voit d'un très mauvais oeil la vie "de débauche" de Roscoe. Dans quelques jours, la fête qu'il a organisée va virer au drame et le plonger au coeur du premier grand scandale hollywoodien… Les studios, les ligues de vertu, les tabloïds, et toute l'Amérique se lieront contre lui. Mais Roscoe pourra toujours compter sur son ami Buster Keaton.
