De John Dowland à Benjamin Britten, en passant par Barbara, Fauré ou Rossini, Philippe Jarrousky et Thibaut Garcia revisitent cinq siècles de musique dans un album très intimiste.

Sacred music for girls' or women's choir and organ can be found in this way almost only in France in the period of late Romanticism and early Modernism. This repertoire, influenced by French Catholicism, is presented by the girls' choir of the singing school Cantus Juvenus Karlsruhe under the direction of Peter Gortner with wonderful lightness and beauty of sound. In addition to the Messe basse by Fauré and Poulenc's intensive Litanies à la Vierge Noire, motets by Debussy, Boulanger and Langlais will be heard. Organ works by Messiaen, Alain and Dupré perfectly round off the CD's programme.

Cyrille Dubois is unstoppable: after two albums dedicated to Liszt and the Boulanger sisters, both acclaimed by the critics, and a flamboyant complete set of Fauré songs, the tenor is back to his preferred repertoire, the French art-song. He reunites with his accomplice, pianist Tristan Raës, to bring the Bordeaux composer Louis Beydts (1895-1953) out of oblivion, most of whose pieces are recorded here for the first time.

Histoires de vies proches par le lien familial ou l’intensité de la rencontre et de l’échange. Histoires que la musique permet de dire sans les raconter, sans désacraliser l’émotion qu’elles portent et ce qu’elles ont d’intime. Un univers musical dans l’influence incontestable du jazz et des musiques brésiliennes mais aussi l’expression d’un imaginaire où les empreintes de Bach, Fauré, Ravel ou Bill Evans ont leur place. Choro, samba, baião et ciranda sont là en filigrane. Ils disent cette mosaïque d’influences, ils tissent avec le jazz et autres musiques amoureusement côtoyées une trame esthétique personnelle.
