Winner of the 2006 Kathleen Ferrier Award and the 2007 Cardiff Song Prize, soprano Elizabeth Watts, makes her harmonia mundi début in a luminous programme of Bach cantatas and arias, deftly supported by The English Concert, led by Harry Bicket.
Liquid Tension Experiment is the self-titled first studio album by instrumental rock/progressive metal supergroup Liquid Tension Experiment, released on March 10, 1998 through Magna Carta Records. The group was composed of Dream Theater bandmembers John Petrucci, Jordan Rudess and Mike Portnoy, as well as bassist Tony Levin. Track six, "Chris and Kevin's Excellent Adventure", is named after the photo sessions for the album in which the photographer kept calling Portnoy "Chris" and Levin "Kevin", whilst "Three Minute Warning" refers to Levin's frustration with his bandmates' insistence on composing rather than spontaneous jamming, and thus his ultimatum to leave the studio within three minutes unless they started to jam.
Liquid Tension Experiment 2 is the second studio album by instrumental rock/progressive metal supergroup Liquid Tension Experiment, released on June 15, 1999 through Magna Carta Records.
Spontaneous Combustion is an album by progressive metal / fusion group Liquid Trio Experiment, and is the result of the studio improvisations of Liquid Tension Experiment which occurred while John Petrucci was with his wife while she was giving birth. The trio of Mike Portnoy, Tony Levin and Jordan Rudess continued to write music during this period. It was released on October 23, 2007.
After last year’s covers album ‘Covertà,’ Adrenaline Mob return with their proper sophomore full-length album, ‘Men of Honor.’ It’s their first disc with drummer A.J. Pero (Twisted Sister), who replaced Mike Portnoy. ‘Men of Honor’ follows the template laid down by their 2012 debut ‘Omertà’ - thick riffs, plenty of groove and straightforward (sometimes simple) lyrics, dished up with a dose of attitude.
It would be easy to call The Winery Dogs a supergroup: Vocalist and guitarist Richie Kotzen made his mark with Poison and Mr. Big, bassist Billy Sheehan has been rocking for decades with Steve Vai, David Lee Roth, Mr. Big and others, and drummer Mike Portnoy was the co-founder of progressive metal superstars Dream Theater. But The Winery Dogs are so much more than a supergroup. The proof is in the brew: The Winery Dogs is an eclectic, fully realized group with songs that groove and swing without sacrificing any of the grit that makes great hard rock so inspiring.
BLACKWELDER, the brand new metal experience featuring some of the top names in power prog metal today, will release its debut album, “Survival Of The Fittest”, on April 24 via Germany’s GoldenCore Records/ZYX Music. The CD was mixed by Matt Smith (THEOCRACY), mastered by Anfinn Skulevold (ABHOTH, “Access Hollywood”) and features artwork by Mario Bouffier (IGGY POP, SACRED REICH). One of the best singers in all of metal, Ralf Scheepers (PRIMAL FEAR, ex-GAMMA RAY) fronts this extraordinary outfit at the top of his game, alongside guitar virtuoso Andrew Szus (SEVEN SERAPHIM). Bjorn Englen (DIO DISCIPLES, ex-YNGWIE MALMSTEEN) and Aquiles Priester (HANGAR, ex-ANGRA) round out this unstoppable team of what quite possibly could be one of the greatest lineups metal has ever seen. BLACKWELDER is a winning formula of raw musical virtuosity that holds the listener’s ears right from the start. This act is surely not one to be missed and cannot be denied!
