In June of 1922, a cultural fiesta took place on the grounds of Granada’s Alhambra palace, organized by Manuel de Falla and Federico García Lorca. The aim of the event was to preserve the ‘purity’ of flamenco art and the opening performance was given by 29-year-old guitarist Andrés Segovia. Ironically, Segovia played de Falla’s Hommage to Claude Debussy (featured on this album - a work which can hardly be described as pure flamenco. But this can be seen as symptomatic of an important trait in the music of 20th-century Spain: Certain composers defended what they believed to be a noble, gallant and Castilian ideal, while others embarked on an quest to restore the ‘lost purity’ of the peasantry, but embracing Modernism and Impressionism as stylistic tools in order to do so.

Johann Friedrich Franz Burgmüller was born in 1806, Regensburg Germany. He was the son of Johann August Franz Burgmüller (German organist and conductor 1766-1824) and elder brother of Norbert Burgmüller (German composer and pianist 1810-1836). Friedrich studied with Ludwig Spohr (1784-1859) and Moritz Hauptmann (1792-1868). After years of studies with Spohr and Hauptmann, Friedrich settled in Paris (until his death in 1874), and he adopted Parisian music. Friedrich Burgmüller wrote numerous pieces of salon music for piano and published several albums of piano studies that have become standard works.

An avid chamber musician, Anne-Maria Hölscher regularly performs with various chamber music ensembles, contemporary music ensembles such as Ensemble Ascolta, Klangforum Heidelberg, Collegium Novum Zurich, and various orchestras. She also regularly performs solo concerts with a broad repertoire spanning the past five centuries.

During her youth, JinAh earned acclamations as the winner in the 1996, 1997, 1998 National Piano Competition in Korea, 2001 Ge Cheon Art Competition, 2001 National Piano Competition in Gyeong Sang Province, and 2001 Seo-Gyeong Newspaper competition. One newspaper quoted that she appears as a comet.
