When the triumph of La cambiale di matrimonio launched the career of the composer, the profession of director did not exist. Today, it exists and thrives often to the detriment of works, which it submits to distorting "readings". So first we have the impression that Lorenzo Regazzo, in Bad Wildbad, not far from cities where the "regietheater" reigns, complies with this game by introducing into the work an additional character, that of a director directing La cambiale di matrimonio. This eccentric figure, whose silvery hair makes him look like old Liszt, and who despotically treats the troupe, is creating before our eyes. It would be more accurate to say: to try to create, because quickly the contradictory indications, the immobility imposed on the interpreters, the confusions with La Scala di seta, reveal indecision and incompetence. In spite of himself, however, the work will come to a successful conclusion, and its salvation will only come from flight, the rebellious interpreters threatening to kill him.

TUT'S TREASURES: HIDDEN SECRETS is a three-part documentary series that explores the 5,398 objects that were reunited for the first time at the new Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo, while investigating the life of a young leader who re-established Egypt as a world power.

A former member of Alice Cooper's band, bassist Kip Winger formed his own group in 1986; in addition to vocalist/bassist Winger, the group featured guitarist Reb Beach, bassist Paul Taylor, and drummer Rod Morgenstein, formerly of the Dixie Dregs. But as all viewers of any music doc surely know, there is always a darker side to the story, and PATV is no exception.

This Paris By Song is an initiatory and ambulatory journey in Paris, in the image of a demonstration (where the claims would be only artistic and aesthetic) that would leave the Place de la République (first piece) instead Bastille (eleventh and last piece), through the Pont des Arts, the Moulin Rouge, the Père Lachaise, the Grand Palais, the Royal Palace, Montmartre and Belleville. A musical journey punctuated by the sounds of the city where some songs without indication of place in their titles are yet evocative of a precise geolocation: Casa Pepe is a Spanish restaurant located rue Mouffetard which was the preferred stopover in Paris of Paco de Lucia and Bohemian Dream, signed by Jo Privat, evokes the musette balls of the rue de Lappe.

The team that it created Cantábrico (2017) presents its new and fascinating adventure: José Díaz is an Asturian businessman from Caleao, a little town belonging to the council of Caso (south-east to Asturias, frontier with Castilla y León), who decides to stand 100 days living on a cabin in the mid of Redes Park Natural, located inside of Picos de Europa National Park (Principality of Asturias, north to Spain), as tribute to his brother Tino, deceased many years ago. In complete loneliness and with four cameras plus a drone to tape all the experience as the only one modern resource, Díaz passes the days traveling across Redes enjoying the sounds of nature and taking advantage to film the wild animal of Redes and its incredible landscapes.

If you're a modern middle-aged urban black man living in the U.S., what is your ethnic heritage in music? Is it the hot or sweet music that poured forth from those oldtime tube sets? Is it the lullabies your mother sang? Or the music of the marching bands? Or the sounds from the big bands and r&b groups at the local dance hall? Surely it's a bit of all this and probably much more. Underlying all the concrete musical manifestations of black America you will find two main sources: the African and the Eurasian. From Africa comes the group feeling, the collective music-making, the emphasis on sound and rhythm – echoes of bush schools and community rites. From Eurasian sources come the long solo lines, the emphasis on melody and text – echoes of the bards singing their lengthy epics. These musical heritages impinged when the Jihad of Islam swept Africa in the 8th century and again when the European colonial powers moved into Africa and the Americas in the 15th century, and again when the global music industry moved into every corner of the planet in the 20th century.

The oddball progressive rock band ZWOYLD from the Clare-Ferrand region of France quietly released their debut "200 000" back in 2014 which kind of went unnoticed but eventually attracted me simply by its bizarre band name, which i have no idea what it means if anything. Four years later they release their sophomore album titled ZGOND, a title which i also have no idea what it may signify if anything. As ZWOYLD's music is heavily steeped in Magma inspired zeuhl rhythms, i would assume that they have also created their own fictitious vocabulary regarding some breakaway society that exists on planet utopia. Since the cool and surreal album cover has two pyramids, i'll just pretend that what it means!
