Pixies have detailed their new album: It’s called Beneath the Eyrie and it’s out September 13 (via Infectious/BMG). Beneath the Eyrie is Pixies’ second album with their current lineup of Black Francis (vocals, guitars), Joey Santiago (guitars), David Lovering (drums), and Paz Lenchantin (bass). It follows 2016’s Head Carrier. Said Korda Marshall, UK SVP Music, BMG, "There are not many bands that can justifiably claim to have changed the sound of music. The Pixies are one, and they continue to push the boundaries with their brilliant new album. We are honored and proud to have signed them to Infectious/BMG and really look forward to working with them in the future."
Charli is the third studio album by English singer Charli XCX. It was released through Asylum and Atlantic Records UK on 13 September 2019. Charli XCX's initial third studio album was planned for release in 2017, but was scrapped in its entirety following online leaks. The album will be supported by a world tour, beginning in Atlanta on 20 September 2019. Charli was preceded by the singles "1999" with Troye Sivan, "Blame It on Your Love" featuring Lizzo, and "Gone" with Christine and the Queens. Charli was also promoted by the promotional singles "Cross You Out" featuring Sky Ferreira, "Warm" featuring Haim, "February 2017" featuring Clairo and Yaeji, and "2099" also featuring Sivan. Upon release, the album was met with critical acclaim, with praise centered on the album's innovative production and songwriting.
Rootsy DC rockers Moonshine Society released their new disc Sweet Thing in late July, through Distrokid and I don’t think it has gotten enough attention. This tight 10-song collection is some of the most remarkably heartfelt roots-rocking I’ve heard this year. The core members of this band, all products of the Berklee School of Music, clearly have the chops to handle this elemental music with confidence and occasionally take it to some powerful and emotional places.
Deutsche Grammophon is set to issue the world premiere of Jóhann Jóhannsson’s 12 Conversations With Thilo Heinzmann on 20 September 2019. The album will be released a day after the future-embracing Icelandic composer would have turned 50.
Wielding her violin like a huntress' bow, Lindsey Stirling focuses her classical crossover vision with a deeply imaginative concept for her fifth album, Artemis. Named after the Greek goddess of the hunt and the moon, the effort finds Stirling hitting her artistic stride with a grand soundtrack to a movie that doesn't yet exist, like a neon cyberpunk take on Howard Shore's Lord of the Rings score. Making her early work feel small-scale by comparison – early-2010s tracks like "Song of the Caged Bird," "Beyond the Veil," and "Heist" come closest to what she's offering here – Artemis also benefits from fewer special guests, which was a distraction on her previous full-length, Brave Enough.
