G I Joe

IDW's G.I. Joe is a year old! And the franchise which now consists of three titles--the core series, the origins, and the side of cobra--has certainly come a long way from where it was stagnating with Devil's Due Publishing before the transfer to IDW. Oddly enough, it is with the Cobra title where the best work and output are being done. For one that structurally symmetrical Cobra one-shot published just three weeks ago (posted here in Avaxhome by yours truly) was not just special--it was, to say the least, unforgettable and outstanding. Now if they could perhaps do the same for this flagship series, to even things a bit..?

It is penned by G.I. Joe comic legend Larry Hama--for the uninitiated, the man who basically created the G.I. Joe comics universe. The series will explore the formation of the Joe Team and the personalities that make up the team. This IDW reboot has been consistently getting top ratings from reviewers who grew up on the comic books (1982-1994). Issue #5 features Snake Eyes in action, infiltrating Chimera's underground base and coming to the aid of his fellow Joes. Judging from the rave reviews from G.I. Joe fans, making Larry Hama the permanent writer for any and all future G.I. Joe series would be the best move IDW can ever make.
