With his sword, whip and trusty steed Tornado, Zorro continued to fight the forces of evil in the second season of Walt Disney's legendary classic. The final 39 swashbuckling episodes saw even more children dressing up as the "sly fox" - Zorro in Spanish - and making the sign of the "Z." The second season aired from October 9, 1958, through July 2, 1959, and is presented here - newly restored and remastered in its original black-and-white format.
Neddy Merrill has been away for most of the Summer. He reappears at a friends pool. As they talk, someone notices that there are pools spanning the entire valley. He decided to jog from pool to pool to swim the whole valley. As he stops in each pool his interactions tell his life story.
In some respects, this is a commendable recording of 14th-century Florentine istanpitte. The performances are vibrant and the acoustic is masterfully captured by Alpha. Henri Agnel, the ensemble director, plays with verve, and the occasional technical edges in the ensemble playing are compensated for by interpretations which are almost always aesthetic.
