Oracle Hysterical a collective of composers and performers: twin brothers Doug Balliett ( double bass, viola da gamba ) and Brad Balliett ( bassoons ), Majel Connery ( vocals ), Elliot Cole ( vocals, harmonium ), and Dylan Greene ( percussion ). Half band, half book club, Oracle combines eclectic musical influences with literary breadth, adapting great works of literature through the medium of song. The group has created hip-hoperas, art-rock song cycles, rap cantatas, and other genre-bending works all over America and Europe, collaborating with a variety of ensembles to cultivate a unique sound palette for each project.

This double-CD release is a fourth volume in pianist Paavali Jumppanen’s ongoing recording cycle of the Beethoven piano sonatas. This release includes Piano Sonatas Nos. 16–18 & 24–27 – written between 1801–02 and 1809–14, and belonging to the middle period of the composer’s oeuvre.

Maya Beiser’s Bowie Cello Symphonic: Blackstar will be released by Islandia Music Records on January 10, 2020, the fourth anniversary of Bowie’s death. Beiser’s highly anticipated new recording succeeds as an important addition to two repertoires — that of the NY-based “cello goddess,” as well as the canon of works which honor the genius of David Bowie. “Lazarus” is the lead track from the album and will be released December 13.

In June 2019, arts journalist John Wilson received an extraordinary tip-off – one billion dollars’ worth of stolen art may be about to be recovered. Included are a unique Rembrandt - his only seascape - and a Vermeer considered the most valuable stolen painting in the world. The art was taken from the walls of the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston in the early hours of 18 March 1990. It remains the world’s biggest unsolved art heist. For John, to follow the recovery of the paintings, as it happens, would be the biggest art story of the century.
