During the whole of the dull, dark, and soundless eighties Yuletide I was occupied by a Christmas annual's feature on "The Master of the Macabre". Dark, monochrome illustrations and an overview of Poe's more notorious tales held me fast and began my lifelong relationship with the House of Usher.

Gary Rossington, a founding and current member of Lynyrd Skynyrd, consistently transcends genres and appeals to many generations of music fans. Gary’s last project outside of Lynyrd Skynyrd was Rossington Collins Band. The 1981 Gold album Anytime, Anyplace, Anywhere yielded the rock hit “Don’t Misunderstand Me,” featuring Gary’s wife Dale Krantz-Rossington on lead vocals. Take It On Faith is the couple’s first recording together since then, the result is magical and timeless.

Vancouver guitar/oud player Gordon Grdina continues to passionately explore the depths of jazz improvisation, cross-cultural fusions and the fun that comes with cutting loose (Stuart Derdeyn). His new and wildly eclectic NY avant jazz project combines intricate counterpoint with the ebb and flow of dynamic yet focused improvisation. The band consists of Oscar Noriega (alto sax, clarinet, bass clarinet), Russ Lossing (piano/Rhodes), and Satoshi Takeishi (drums). Grdina takes inspiration from the complexity of Bartok, the freedom of Ornette Coleman, the energy and logical construction of ideas in Soundgarden, and the delicacy of Webern.

"Dreams" is an album by Hungarian guitarist Gábor Szabó featuring performances recorded in 1968 and released on the Skye label. The Allmusic review states: "a collection of originals, pop covers, and classical reinterpretations. The result is a sort of accessible third-stream music. Szabo has many fine moments".
