Deliberately steering away from his more well-known classics, Van enlisted some of the artists he most respects to perform these songs with him to re-craft and re-imagine them. The album was recorded in his home town of Belfast and London in the United Kingdom over the last year, using a variety of musicians and fresh arrangements.

The album, released in 1983, was produced by George Martin and includes the hit single 'Say Say Say', a duet with Michael Jackson that stayed at #1 on the US Chart for 6 weeks. Now, the album is newly remastered at Abbey Road Studios and features bonus audio, includes previously unreleased and rare tracks, plus a new remix of 'Say Say Say'.

For his latest release, Rhythm Sessions, the legendary guitarist enlists a star-studded cast of veterans and promising newcomers including Chick Corea, Dave Grusin, George Duke, Stanley Clarke, Marcus Miller and winners from his Annual Six String Theory International Competition. This diverse project features a variety of sounds and grooves, all rooted in jazz, but with hints of funk, R&B, Latin and world music.
