This is a best-of CD collection that actually lives up to its name. Virtually all of Louis Jordan's hits, which musically bridged the gap between small-group swing, R&B, and rock & roll, are on this single CD, including "Choo Choo Ch'Boogie," "Let the Good Times Roll," "Ain't Nobody Here But Us Chickens," "Saturday Night Fish Fry," "Caldonia," "Five Guys Named Moe," and "Don't Let the Sun Catch You Crying." Serious collectors will want to explore a more complete series, particularly the one put out by Classics, but for a single acquisition, this is the Louis Jordan set to get. Jordan's very likable and good-humored vocals and his hot alto, as well as the playing of the Tympani Five, belong in everyone's music collection.

Skip Woods made his directorial debut with this film, caught in a crossfire between thriller and comedy. After violence is unleashed in the opening sequence, the story settles on former L.A. drug dealer Casey Wells (Thomas Jane), now a Houston architect living with his attractive wife Christine (Paula Marshall). When past partner Nick (Aaron Eckhart) arrives out of the blue on a Thursday, asking for a place to stay for a few days, Casey invites him in but later gets curious about Nick's briefcase. After he opens it to find a huge helping of heroin, panic sets in, and he flushes it all away – setting the stage for a variety of hoods and hitmen to turn up on Casey's suburban doorstep. 26 Turkish Beat, Psych and Garage Delights Review by Ned Raggett
A European companion of sorts to the Hava Narghile collection that came out in the States the same year – Gökhan Aya provides the liner notes and assembly here as he did with Jay Dobis on the other collection – the rather windily titled 26 Turkish Beat, Psych and Garage Delights is packed with merry late-'60s madness from Anatolia. There's a bit of overlap with Hava Narghile in the track listing itself – among the repeat numbers are "Agit" by Yabancilar and Haramiler's "Çamlica Yolunda" – but for the most part these tracks are new to the digital realm, and those taken with the first compilation will definitely want this one. If the packaging of 26 Turkish Beats is not quite up to the levels of Hava Narghile – somebody really needed to properly proofread Aya's essays and description – what really matters is the music, and that sounds great.
