Throughout the years, Ken has performed and worked with names such as Glenn Hughes, Ken Hensley, TNT, Rick Springfield, Dan Reed, Chesney Hawkes, Glam (Wig Wam), John Lawton, Jack In The Box, Return, and many more. Being involved with tons of projects as a guitar player, songwriter, producer etc. for many years, Ken felt it was time to do something for himself…..a solo album.
Back in 2006 after I left DOMAIN, even if we ended up with the best album that band was able to do, I needed a change of pace, something a bit more back to where I came from, back to where my heart is. What I wanted to do was a real Classic Rock album. Straight PURPLE, RAINBOW, HEEP, MANFRED MANN… you name it. Quickly I got the boys together to do it, and we managed to record a few demos. Unfortunately, the band disbanded shortly after, and as my studio jobs became more and more interesting and important, I put that idea on hold. A couple years later in 2009 I finally came to the conclusion, not to go out looking for steady band members, but to try to get all my friends together to help me out making the album, I always wanted to make…
Legendary Guitarist’s Final Album Features A Different Guitarist And Vocalist On Every Track, With Performances By Joe Bonamassa, Phil Collen, Rick Derringer, Sammy Hagar, Glenn Hughes, Brad Whitford, Edgar Winter, And More. Before his untimely death in 2012, renowned American rock guitarist Ronnie Montrose began recording an ambitious passion project with bassist Ricky Phillips (Styx, Bad English) and drummer Eric Singer (Kiss, Alice Cooper). The idea was to record 10 songs with 10 different singers and call the album 10X10. Sadly, Montrose was unable to see the album through during his lifetime. Instead, Phillips made it his mission to finish the songs by enlisting a small army of Ronnie’s musician friends to record the vocals and the guitar solos for each song, completing the album in recent years.
This CD by far has the best line-up i've ever seen assembled for a tribute. The Butterfly Ball and the Grasshopper's Feast is a concept album and subsequent live rock opera appearing in 1974 and 1975 respectively, based on the children's poem of a similar title. The album cover design is from Alan Aldridge's design for a 1973 book based on the poem. The work was originally conceived as a solo vehicle for Jon Lord to be produced by Roger Glover who had recently left Deep Purple. However, Lord proved too busy with Deep Purple and Glover took up the reins on his own. Using his connections, Glover recruited a large cast of noted rock musicians to perform on it, with a different vocalist for each character, including David Coverdale and Glenn Hughes. The single "Love Is All", with vocals from Ronnie James Dio, made a minor impression in the UK but reached number one in The Netherlands.
