Good Boy

This cult favorite began as Francis Ford Coppola's UCLA thesis, ending up with a professional cast and nationwide release. Teen Peter Kastner undergoes his coming-of-age rites when, urged on by dad Rip Torn, he strikes out on own and moves to NYC. Every person Kastner meets is an eccentric's eccentric, from landlady Julie Harris to cop Dolph Sweet. Kastner's new friend Tony Bill, who works at the New York Public Library and accumulates pornography on side, introduces the boy to sex and drugs. Our hero truly matriculates to manhood after his heart is broken by disco dancer Elizabeth Hartman; he settles instead for Karen Black, still enough of an unknown quantity in 1966 to play against type as "the right girl". Adapted from a novel by David Benedictus, Big Boy is afflicted with usual youthful film-class fervor, crammed full of showoffish cinematic tricks that Coppola would eventually outgrow. But one can't deny that this seminal production is both heartfelt and energetic. To improve the film's saleability, distributors Seven Arts tacked on a music score by the Lovin' Spoonful, hardly necessary but very enjoyable appendange.

In his first feature film, Bill Cosby stars as Caleb Revers, a black Civil War veteran who takes his wife (Gloria Foster) and 12 year-old son (George Spell) to Arizona and sets up a homestead. A kindly neighbor (Dub Taylor) gives Caleb a sick horse and after nursing it back to health begins to work the land. But when Billy leaves the horse unattended in town the it goes missing. Caleb and his son set out to retrieve the horse, but several dangerous obstacles, including a crazed sheriff (Leif Erickson) and an arch rival (Yaphet Kotto) from Caleb's past, stand in their way.

Lakki: Boy Who Could Fly, has got to be one of the strangest films ever made. It concerns a boy dealing with his crazy, selfish parents, who are constantly splitting up, reuniting and badmouthing each other. his mother is a pretty but hilarious wreck of a woman. She continually becomes involved with stupid guys, bringing them home into her and her sons lives. It is funny hearing the way she talks to her son, as if he is a friend, or her equal, and not a 14 year-old. She selfishly becomes involved with her sons gym teacher, a stupid muscle head that has been terrorizing the boy…

The story of a young Gerd, played by Liv Ullman in her first leading role, who falls in love with a young boy. She is considered a 'loose' woman, and the boy's family does not accept their relationship. The young couple run away to a cabin in the woods where they meet a rogue man who tests their relationship.

Jack (Andrew Garfield) is released from prison, finally, at the age of 24; having been institutionalized for most of his life. He and another boy murdered a child, when they were themselves children.

The assistant stage manager of a small-time theatrical company (Polly Browne) is forced to understudy for the leading lady (Rita) at a matinée performance at which an illustrious Hollywood director (Cecil B. DeThrill) is in the audience scouting for actors to be in his latest "all-talking, all-dancing, all-singing" extravaganza. Polly also happens to fall in love with the leading man (Tony) and imagines several fabulous fantasy sequences in which the director is free to exercise his capacity for over-the-top visuals in this charming 1920's era flick.

Hunter × Hunter (ハンター×ハンター, Hantā Hantā?), pronounced "Hunter Hunter", is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Yoshihiro Togashi with an anime adaptation.
The story of Hunter × Hunter focuses on a young boy named Gon Freecss, who one day discovers that the father he had always been told was dead was alive and well. He learns that his father, Ging Freecss, is a legendary Hunter. Despite the fact that his father abandoned Gon with his relatives in order to pursue his dreams, Gon becomes determined to follow in his father's footsteps, pass the Hunter Examination, and eventually find his father to prove himself as a Hunter in his own right.

Ozu’s hilarious Technicolor reworking of his silent I Was Born, But … , Good Morning (Ohayô) is the story of two young boys in suburban Tokyo who take a vow of silence after their parents refuse to buy them a television set. Shot from the perspective of the petulant brothers, Good Morning is an enchantingly satirical portrait of family life that gives rise to gags about romance, gossip, and the consumerism of modern Japan.
