For centuries, Inuit in the Arctic have lived on and around the frozen ocean. Now, as climate change is rapidly melting the sea ice between Canada and Greenland, the outside world sees unprecedented opportunity. Oil and gas deposits, faster shipping routes, tourism, and fishing all provide financial incentive to exploit the newly opened waters. But for more than 100,000 Inuit, an entire way of life is at stake. Development here threatens to upset the delicate balance between their communities, land, and wildlife. Divided by aggressive colonization and decades of hardship, Inuit in Canada and Greenland are once again coming together, fighting to protect what will remain of their world. The question is, will the world listen?

The route travels over the fascinating ice landscapes of the Canadian Archipelago, and on to Cambridge Bay, south of Victoria Island. The weather allows for an extensive view of the Canadian North-West territories, as well as its capital Yellowknife. Sunlight glances off the snow and glacier of Mount Robson, the highest mountain of the Canadian Rocky Mountains. After passing by Whistler Mountain, the former volcano Mount Garibaldi Vancouver appears.

The crews were rescued, but the planes remained, eventually entering aviation lore as the "Lost Squadron." In 1981, two adventurers from Atlanta set out not just to find these planes, but to restore them to their former glory. TIME MACHINE reveals how the first part of their quest–which they thought would be relatively simple–took eight years, and ended with the discovery that the planes were encased in ice, 250 feet below the surface of a glacier. And that was far from the most difficult obstacle they encountered
