Super deluxe edition include the three disc (two CDs + DVD) edition plus vinyl picture disc LP pressing, the white tape replica pre-contract demo cassette containing remastered versions of four original demo tracks, an extra bonus CD containing further previously unreleased studio, live and BBC session and remastered tracks.
Human's Lib is an unintentionally revealing title for Howard Jones' debut album. What first seems like a play on words reveals itself as something of an empowering manifesto, a shift that mirrors his music. Upon first glance, Human's Lib appears to be state-of-the-art synth pop circa 1984: a record where every element outside of the human voices appears to be electronic…

Once again showcasing the talents of guitarist Norman Brown, saxophonist Kirk Whalum, and trumpeter Rick Braun, B.W.B. lay down such Jackson favorites as "Billie Jean," "Beat It," "She's Out of My Life," "Man in the Mirror," and others.

On their 3rd album, this Chicago band plays melody-driven hard guitar pop with a crunchy rock energy. The songs have a punky hook-filled flow that rides a spirited surge of melodic power. You can dance, bounce, hum along, play air guitar or just fly around the room in a freak-out of pure fun. This is the kind of music that will make your smile. “Terrible Human Beings” is a perfectly balanced combination of rock ‘n’ roll power and pop accessibility.

As the '80s drew to a close, Todd Rundgren turned over a new leaf with his first album recorded specifically for Warner Bros. Not long after the release of A Cappella, he separated from Bearsville and disbanded Utopia, choosing to embark on a few years as a producer and session man. He finally returned with Nearly Human, his first album of new material in four years, in the summer of 1989. During his hiatus as a recording artist, Rundgren became fascinated with recording live music, deciding to record Nearly Human live in the studio – not nearly as flamboyant as A Cappella, but a gimmick nonetheless. If anything, the live-in-the-studio gimmick works better than the all-vocal track, not only because it's easier to execute, but because the production style complements the soul-inflected songs. Song for song, Nearly Human is his best record since The Hermit of Mink Hollow, since not only is the bulk of the album filled with charging blue-eyed soul like "The Want of a Nail" or sweet ballads like "Parallel Lines," but because there are no novelties and the cover choice (Elvis Costello's "Two Little Hitlers") is fresh and surprising. At times, his eccentricities get the best of him, as he overstuffs his arrangements or lyrics with unnecessary details, but these are minor points – Nearly Human finds Rundgren at the top of his game as a performer, producer and songwriter, sustaining his momentum in a way he hadn't for nearly a full decade.

In its review of pianist Shai Maestro’s ECM leader debut The Dream Thief, All About Jazz spoke of “a searching lyrical atmosphere, emotional eloquence and communal virtuosity that serves the music.” All of which also applies to Human, where Maestro’s outgoing, highly-communicative band with fellow Israeli Ofri Nehemya on drums and Peruvian bassist Jorge Roeder becomes a quartet with the inspired addition of US trumpeter Philip Dizack. Shai’s expansive pianism is well-matched by Dizack’s alert, quick-thinking approach to improvising. And, as ever, Maestro is taking the music forward while also respecting its sense of tradition. Near the end of a programme comprised almost entirely of Maestro originals, exploring a range of temperaments, the quartet offers its own take on Duke Ellington’s “In A Sentimental Mood”, while Shai’s tune “Hank and Charlie” pays tribute to the musical empathy shared by the late Hank Jones and Charlie Haden. Human was recorded at Studios la Buissonne in the South of France in February 2020, and produced by Manfred Eicher.

First Human Ferro (FHF), a Ukrainian dark ambient project organized by Olegh Kolyada back in summer 1998, with first field recordings being experienced yet in winter 1997. The debut raw experiments date back June-August 1998 when “The Halo over Pontiff’s Hearse” was recorded. A year later in 1999 FHF started musical manipulations with harsher sounds which resulted into “Metaballistik: Viewed under Infra-Red” session, known as Ukrainian exceptional death industrial material ever. Both above-mentioned albums were released on tapes and CD-Rs several times in limited editions in Ukraine and Poland. In 2000 a classical dark ambient album “Motherwards” was recorded, issued a year later as the first professional CD release of the project…
