Hamilton de Holanda is widely considered as the best Brazilian mandolin player and as one of the greatest virtuosos of bandolim of all times. Casa De Bituca sees Latin Grammy award-winning Hamilton de Holanda and his quintet joined by singer-songwriter and guitarist Milton Nascimento to perform compositions by that legendary musician. Coinciding with Nascimento's 75th birthday and presenting reimagined versions of songs from early in his career, this is a true celebration of classic Brazilian music, complemented by two original compositions from de Holanda.

Repertoire draws upon the rich heritage of South American music – including Jobim, Piazzolla, Chico Buarque, Baden Powell, Ernesto Nazareth and more, plus original compositions by the protagonists. O que será was recorded live in Antwerp in last August before an audibly-delighted audience at the Jazz Middelheim Festival.

The virtuous, brilliant and unique Hamilton de Holanda returns to the Blue Note São Paulo stage with his newest project, on January 13th. Flying Chicken is the new project of his trio with pianist Salomão Soares and drummer Big Rabello, where together they explore different rhythms and timbres.

New album by this excellent mandolin player who plays 15 of the most known songs by Chico Buarque, which also has the participation of Chico Buarque himself, Catalan singer Silvia Perez Cruz in ÒO Meu AmorÓ and ÒAtras da PortaÓ, Italian pianist Stefano Bollani in "Piano na Mangueira" and ÒVai Trabalhar VagabundoÓ, and also Thiago da Serrinha on percussion plus contrabass by Guto Wirtti and AndrŽ Vasconcellos. An excellent Instrumental music album.

First album produced by Hamilton of Holland in homage to the centenary of Jacob of the Bandolim. The albums name refers to the ten-string mandolin used by Hamilton and the jazzy character of the work. The recording was made by Hamilton of Holland Trio, formed by Guto Wirtti (acoustic bass) and Thiago da Serrinha (percussion). The recordings were made at the Tambor studio (Rio de Janeiro) and Hamilton used the rare ten-string mandolin that belonged to Jacob. The instrument, a gift given by the Jacob do Mandolim Institute and Casa do Choro, is being used for the first time in a recording.

The second posthumously released duo album featuring Charlie Haden. The first last year was with Jim Hall recorded in Montreal in 1990. This latest one, poetically titled as "Tokyo Adagio", is more recent, Haden duetting with the Cuban pianist Gonzalo Rubalcaba and draws from a March 2005 Blue Note Tokyo club four-night residency. The polite audience reaction and applause is respectful and the sound of a few knives and forks neither here nor there in the background not distracting: the album feels lived in, which is far better than clinical.

Italian piano genius Stefano Bollani's new Brazilian album QUE BOM building on the success of his successful album CARIOCA (2008), which sold over 70'000 copies. QUE BOM primarily consists of Bollani's own original tunes and distinctive melodies strongly influenced and informed by Brazilian music culture, which Bollani has always cherished since the very beginning of his rich, multifaceted crackerjack music making and dexterous playing. In QUE BOM - a genuine hymn to life marked by sparkling liveliness and (contagious) joy - Bollani is joined by the same outstanding rhythm section as in CARIOCA - Jorge Helder (db), Jurim Moreira (dr) and Armando Marçal (perc) - plus Thiago da Serrinha (perc), but here, in QUE BOM, also by the grand guest stars Caetano Veloso, João Bosco, Jaques Morelenbaum and Hamilton de Holanda.
