Rhino chips away at more rock nostalgia of the surface variety. This time out, both the '70s and '80 are pilfered for chart-toppers by Foreigner, Foghat, the Romantics, Bad Company, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and the Knack. Thankfully, despite the agitprop cover art, one is spared any overriding theme here, save for a virtual romp through an '80s mods (read: new wavers) and rockers party. And there's even a bit of hip-hop by Tone-Loc, and some proto-lounge swing from Buster Poindexter to bolster the mix. But, the bulk here will be best enjoyed by muscle-car driving heshers who don't mind hearing their favorite Frampton or Joe Walsh cut yet one more time.

And, like all good follow-ups, I'm A Freak 2 Baby expands upon the original while simultaneously tightening the stylistic mesh. In addition to further selections from some of the subterranean stars of the first volume, we feature many of the genre's pioneers, with key tracks from The Jeff Beck Group, Edgar Broughton Band, Atomic Rooster and High Tide. Our scope ranges from Top Five hit singles (Love Sculpture's manic, heavily influential 'Sabre Dance' and the original brass-free demo version of The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown's gothic masterpiece 'Fire') to a clutch of bands (Thor, Tonge, Tarsus and several others) that were active during our timeframe but didn't get beyond locally-recorded demos.

Bad Company is an English hard rock supergroup founded in 1973, consisting of band members from Free (Paul Rodgers, Simon Kirke), Mott the Hoople (Mick Ralphs), and King Crimson (Boz Burrell). Bad Company enjoyed great success throughout the 1970s. They were managed by Peter Grant, who had also guided Led Zeppelin to massive success.

This unique event, a celebration of Hard Rock Cafe's 20th anniversary in Japan, brought together "super guitarists" from different genres and backgrounds: Extreme's Nuno Bettencourt shared the spotlight for three nights with ex-Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones, Paul Gilbert of Mr. Big and Steve Hackett (ex-Genesis). Completing the line-up were drummer Pat Mastelotto from King Crimson, Roger King on keyboards and Mike Szuter on bass. Fantastic performance!
